Your day to day
Responsible for leading the marketing, sales and revenue functions to position the resort in the marketplace through identifying and marketing unique and valuable selling propositions to create sustainable competitive advantage. Maintains an appropriate promotional mix in all substantial markets to drive brand/resort preference. Maintains a positive market reputation and integrates the activity of the marketing, sales and revenue force to foster cohesion, impact and clarity in the marketplace.
What we need from you
Research and Analysis • Defines the intelligence requirements and leads the information gathering process on emerging and substantial markets, customer buying behavior, competitors in-market activity and macro changes in distribution, technological and travel research areas.• Clearly defines customer segments and their occasion for purchase, targeting profitable segments that have affinity with our brand proposition.• Sets the standard of data acquisition on property, articulates its value to all stakeholders, and holds the team accountable to data entry standards.• Conducts monthly reviews on business performance taking into account optimal business mix, pricing, distribution, sales effectiveness and opportunities not realized.• Understands and evaluates IHG’s critical success factors and ascertains their impact in the market place to use to maximum advantage.• Understands and accounts for key strengths and development opportunities of the on-property sales and marketing team and the structure required to sustain competitive advantage in the medium term.• Interacts with individuals outside the hotel, including, but not limited to clients, Convention Bureaus, local Hotel Associations, Government Tourist offices, Airlines, Travel Agents, Tour Operators, competitors and other members of the local community Planning and Control. • Develop a 3 year Strategic Business Plan which addresses the owner’s key objectives, IHG key commercial priorities, market and environmental dynamics and resort product development.• Prioritises driving business direct through brand.com and the acquisition and satisfaction of IHG Reward Club and InterContinental Ambassador members and maintains on ongoing process of on-property brand engagement to non-loyal guests.• Works with the General Manager to formulate the strategy for the annual budgeting cycle, promoting a strong orientation towards the market and influencing investment decisions, including an appropriate budgeted marketing spend.• Produce SMART Action Plans related to the 1 year annual budgeting cycle to ensure revenue budgeted objectives and Key Performance Objectives are achieved and outperformed through an optimum promotional mix.• Applies metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and ensures marketing campaigns are timed with insight as to customer’s look-to-book habits to maximize ROI.• Ensures business decisions that have long term consequences, especially wholesale contracting and pricing is aligned and cohesive to the business plan.• Actively plans to mitigate risks in distribution, reputation, sales service failures & pricing control. Execution. • Ensures all in-market communications are per current brand guidelines.• Maintains an updated photo library that conveys visual clarity, and rich media assets such as video to effectively market in the digital space.• Ensures all copy carries the brand tone of voice, and all marketing material is professionally translated into the mother tongue of the targeted market.• Understands the impact of price on the buying behavior of customers and develops prioritizes knowledge of buyer pricing acceptance over competitor price positioning to drive pricing decisions.• Support the execution of the brand hearted agenda, improve guest experience at the hotel level and build brand health to include positioning workshops, develop a greater understanding of the target and core customer for hotel/resort.• Review regularly activity reports and ensure targets and Sales objectives are met.• Manage the development of new products and services through effective marketing plans and cross departmental project work.• Embed IHG Way of Sales into team and ensures the sales team are using Sales Standard Operating Procedures effectively.
