Jumeirah Muscat Bay Resort lies 15 minutes south of the city centre and 40 minutes from Seeb International Airport. The overall development will include a 1,200 square meters Talise Spa, a diving centre, a wide range of sports and leisure facilities, a selection of restaurants, bars and cafes and a kids club. The resort will also include conference and banquet facilities to cater for Oman’s growing attraction as a destination for conferences, meetings and large-scale events. The resort forms part of a larger development that includes 300 high-end residential townhouses and villas, taking advantage of some of the most beautiful, unspoilt coastline in the Middle East.

About the role

An exciting role has arisen for hard working Chef de Partie (Bakery) to join the pre-opening and Culinary department at Jumeirah Muscat Bay Resort. The main purpose of this role is to perform and delegate tasks to a multi-cultural team and ensure a superior production and presentation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Organize shifts in the section with regard to mise-en-place production and its service
Give tasks to Demi Chefs and Commis Chefs and check that they are carried out in the correct manner
daily dry store, food requisitions and kitchen transfers on the appropriate forms for the approval of the Culinary Director / Pastry Chef in order to achieve the high stock rotation desired in his/her section
Maintain good colleague’s relations and motivate colleagues
Ensure that training on a one-to-one basis has been carried out and comprehended
Check on a daily basis food preparation regarding portion size, quantity and quality as laid down in the recipe index
Responsible for completing the daily checklist regarding Mise-en-place and food storage
Attend daily and monthly meetings with the Pastry Chef and other meetings as requested by the Culinary Director
Follow up on pending orders
Check quality of products delivered (especially imported items as they all have very high costs)
Help to recycle the food in the kitchen to control wastage
Organizing and helping the pastry mise-en-place production
Must be able to work on all sections to cover colleagues on days off
Helps the Team in the absence of Pastry Chef
Give new ideas on times of implementation of new menus or promotions

About You

In order to be considered for this role, you should have a minimum of 1 year experience in the culinary profession. You should be able to handle multiple tasks as well as busy banqueting and volume operations.
