About the Role

  • Provide friendly, professional and efficient bar service ensuring maximum guest satisfaction in a manner consistent with Jumeirah Standards.

  • Being responsible for the overall wine experience on the island and ensuring a unique wine experience is being offered to all guests, in line with resort standards.

  • Maximizing daily wine sales to result in increased profits for the department and resort.

  • Should be flexible and ready to work any shift given as per the requirement of the Outlet managers and adhere to company service standards.

  • Ensuring that the outlet and work areas are cleaned and correctly set-up as per service standards prior to each service, including the selection and positioning of glassware necessary for the service of beverages.

  • Ensuring the availability of all beverage items, as well as cigars and cigarettes, and suggesting the best alternative in case of any unavailability of the requested product.

  • During service, checking on an ongoing basis that the outlet and work areas [including front and back of house areas] are of kept as per resort standards and taking any necessary corrective action.

  • Ensuring a high level of guest service by approaching your job with always the guests in mind, following all set resort standards, paying attention to detail and providing a personalized service.

  • Displaying excellent knowledge of the wines, their vintages, grape variety and other characteristics.

  • Ensuring that the guests are comfortable with wines they have ordered.

  • Hosting special Resort Wine events such as wine cellar dinners, wine tasting sessions etc.

  • Assisting the Sommelier and Asst. F&B Director / Ass. F&B Manager to devise harmonious pairing of wine and food by working closely with the Chefs.

  • Getting feedback from guests on an on-going basis, informing the department to ensure proper follow up and actions are taken place.

  • Overseeing wine inventory, sales and supply. Checking beverage requirements, maintaining wine stock and leading the month-end wine stock take.

  • Handling all store requisitions and ensuring that items are kept at the appropriate par levels.

  • Assisting with the inventories of operating equipment, particularly glassware for wine service.

  • Ensuring that the cellars are safely locked when not in operation.

  • Monitoring all beverage costs by overseeing the beverage service in the outlets and taking immediate corrective actions when needed, or reporting the issue to the outlet supervisor. Suggesting cost control measures in relation to beverage service.

  • Managing glassware inventory and controlling breakage. Ensuring that all beverage control procedures are adhered to.

  • Communicating with the other departments of the resort to ensure that all team members are knowledgeable of food and beverage activities so that they may actively promote these activities.

  • Preparing the month-end consumption report together with the Assistant Sommelier.

  • Self-studying and reading about wine in general. Being able to speak with authority on grape varieties, regions and their products. Keeping well informed about wine trends and market prices.

  • Displaying knowledge of fortified wines, their vinification, storage and handling. Being aware of the various methods of distillation and the making of spirits and liqueurs. Being knowledgeable about cigar production, particularly Havanas’.

  • Being familiar with beer making processes and the varieties.

  • Assisting in maintaining the Resort Master Wine List and wine printing materials for the outlet with daily follow-up on available wines.

  • Executing all F&B activities and promotions according to guidelines given by F&B Management.

  • Keeping updated on changes to other areas of resort product and sharing such information with your team and department on an ongoing basis.

  • Maintaining excellent grooming and hygiene ensuring all grooming standards are met in relation to personal grooming and uniform presentation.

  • Complying with Resort Safety & Environment policies, initiatives and legislation.

  • Abiding by all Work Place Health, Safety and Hygiene regulations at all times.

 

 



Qualifications and experience

•     Intermediate to Advanced levels of Business English

•     Advanced knowledge of wine, spirits & cocktails

•     Excellent guest service skills

•     Good problem solving skills

•     The ability to multitask & work well under pressure
