General Job Duties Include:

  • To carry out on the job training as per monthly training plans
  • To help maintain notice boards
  • To attend monthly departmental meetings
  • To brief associates before each shift
  • To consistently liaise with appropriate departments to ensure efficient service
  • To ensure that the outlets are constantly aware of the needs of the customers during each shift
  • To ensure that the outlets are clean and hygienic at all times in accordance with the departmental cleaning schedules
  • To assist in the co ordination of all F & B resources to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of all departments
  • To ensure bar opening times are adhered to
  • To ensure that licensing laws are adhered to
  • To continuously monitor food and beverage service standards
  • To be aware of and to communicate hotel occupancies and F & B business levels on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • To be able to relate the forecasted business to the preparation of the bar and stock to be ordered to ensure smooth efficient service is maintained
  • To ensure pre booked special requests are complied with
  • To ensure that all par stocks are adhered to
  • To reduce all forms of waste
  • To ensure strict security of all monies and stock in the bar, room service and restaurant.
  • To ensure that all bills are processed according to the standard for that particular payment method
  • To ensure that any wastage is recorded correctly for stock taking purposes
  • To ensure that all shift end reports balance with reception
  • To ensure that voids and no sales are kept to a minimum
  • To ensure that bar stocks of both beverage and equipment items are adhered to and varied where necessary to cover projected business levels
  •  To assist in stock takes.
  • To report shortages of any items which would detrimentally affect service standards of loss of revenue
  • To ensure beverage stocks are properly stored and rotated.

Other duties include: Complete closing duties, including storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist. Set up, stock, and maintain work areas. Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silver prior to use. Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures.


Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Support all co-workers and treat them with dignity and respect. Support team to reach common goals. Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e. g., small print). Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and steps. Move up and down stairs and/or service ramps. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards. Speak with others using clear and professional language, and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
