CONCIERGE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To have at the ready every kind of information pertaining to all hotel services, local places of interest, restaurants, doctors, sightseeing tours, and any other information likely to be of interest to guests.
2. To prepare efficient work schedules of the uniformed services taking into consideration projected occupancy forecasts and any other large group movements, especially those with early or late arrivals or departures.
3. To ensure that all uniformed services are neat and clean at all times and that they perform the tasks assigned to them promptly and efficiently. Each activity should be recorded by the luggage master on the Bell boy control sheet.
4. To attempt to obtain tickets for events as required by guests, which would otherwise be unavailable, through means of personal local contacts.
5. To be fully prepared to recommend first and foremost the hotel’s own food and beverage outlets before any other, making himself totally familiar with the operating times and their USP.
6. To ensure that the lobby is always maintained in an orderly fashion and that ashtrays are kept clean.
7. To be fully familiar with the points of interest in the city and environs and be prepared to recommend restaurants of quality, after having recommended the hotel’s own Food and Beverage facilities.
8. To co-ordinate the paging of guests in the Lobby, Bar, Coffee Shop and where considered appropriate by management.
9. To be prepared to provide reasonable guest services such as obtaining or reconfirming rail tickets, selling stamps etc.
10. To be responsible for the maintenance of the hotel information directory (Function Board) and ensure the information shown is current and accurate at all times.
11. To personally supervise delivery and collection of group movement baggage ensuring its accurate and speedy delivery to and from the guest rooms.
12. To ensure that guests receive the most cordial attention whenever they approach the desk for information or any other service. Make it a primary concern to learn and use the names of the guests by frequently referring to the computerized reservation system and constantly encourage Bell boys to do likewise.
13. To ensure all messages and parcels should be delivered with speed and accuracy to the guests.
14. To ensure all activities are systematically logged so that they can be retrieved easily when desired by staff.
15. When the guest desires a car on hire, luxury yacht, the concierge should make the booking and co-ordinate with TSL stroke Duty Manager. As soon as the car arrives the guest should be informed. Name of the driver and description of the number plate should be given to guest to avoid any inconvenience incase of the yacht being hired by the guest, concierge should ensure that guest is escorted to the jetty.
16. To be one touch contact point for all in house guest requirements.
17. To be a data bank for all information on the hotel and the city.
18. To up sell all in house rooms and amenities.
19. To enhance the hotel’s image.
20. To adhere to personal grooming as per standards laid down by the hotel and always be clean shaven.
21. To ensure that uniform is clean and well ironed.
22. To perform such duties and observe and conform to such directions and instructions as may be assigned or communicated to you by the company or by such officers who are placed in authority over you.
