Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offer professional, engaging and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
  • Demonstrate Fairmont core values in all interactions
  • Coach and support department leaders with all aspects of managing individuals and teams including recruitment, performance management, employee and labour relations
  • Assist with recruitment strategy development and implementation to ensure that Hamilton Princess is considered an employer of choice
  • Effectively manage all aspects of recruitment activities including preparing advertisements, maintaining the on-line recruitment system, pre-screening applications, conducting preliminary interviews and preparing employment contracts in a high volume mass recruitment environment
  • Assist with conducting recruitment and immigration related training
  • Develop and maintain relationships with recruitment agencies as required
  • Effectively manage and track all immigration processes required to successfully obtain work permit applications without interruption to business operations  
  • Assist with developing and managing the recruitment budget
  • Assist with ensuring the consistent application of people related practices throughout the hotel and compliance with Fairmont standards
  • Maintain compliance with Fairmont Talent & Culture Core Standards, policies, procedures and T&C audit standards
  • Follow and ensure compliance with all corporate, hotel and departmental policies and procedures
  • Participate in hotel committees
  • Perform any other function related duties and projects as assigned

    
Qualifications:
  • Three to five years human generalist experience in a large organization is required; experience in a  luxury hotel environment is an asset
  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations or a related field or HR Certification is preferred 
  • Experience working in a unionized environment or employee relations experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a high volume mass recruitment / Immigration environment is required
  • Proven experience in administering and/or  adhering to employment related legislation and regulations is required (e.g. Employment Act, Human Rights Act, Labour Relations Act, Immigration policy and procedures, Health & Safety Legislation)
  • Experience with the use of social media for recruitment purposes and developing and managing relationships external recruitment vendors is strongly preferred
  • The ability to work with a high level of discretion and confidentiality is required
  • Proven ability to focus attention on colleague needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Proven strong organizational, analytical, coaching and effective problem solving skills are required
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal,  written and oral communication skills are required
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in a demanding and fast paced environment with attention to detail  is required

  • Proven ability to work cohesively as part of a team in a multi cultural, diverse environment

  • Must be highly computer literate in MS Office programs and HR related applications

  • The ability to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required is an asset
