Providing engaging, sincere, personalized service is one of the ways our Front Office Colleagues are turning moments into memories for our guests at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. Showcase your strengths as Night Manager, where you will provide exceptional guest while providing managerial support for the overnight team in the absence of the Director, Front Office.

 

 

Hotel Overview: Located in Washington’s fashionable West End and adjacent to historic Georgetown, the Fairmont Washington, D.C. welcomes guests in capital style. With a sunlit urban courtyard that soothes the spirit, the Fairmont is the perfect hotel for business or leisure travel.

 

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director, Front Office, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
  • Provide supervision for the entire overnight team
  • Handle all guest related issues, oversee and address any challenges as the Manager on Duty
  • Coach and counsel the Front Office team to ensure positive colleague relations and exemplary guest service
  • Lead by example and promote an environment of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, Accountability and Excellence
  • Develop and maintain standards for the department, while adhering to Fairmont’s core standards
  • Provides direction and support to line associates in their daily tasks relating to their positions
  • Communicate and liaise effectively with other leaders in the department and hotel
  • Energize the brand by promoting our guests loyalty program, the Fairmont President Club
  • Ensures proper staffing and scheduling of all front office colleagues in accordance to productivity guidelines
  • Communicates through pre-shift, logs, emails and departmental operational meetings all pertinent information for the respective shift and areas of operation
  • Supports daily and weekly selling strategy in accordance with yield recommendations and promotes maximizing of revenue and occupancy on a daily basis
  • Ensures all daily, monthly and quarterly reporting is completed on a timely basis
  • Ensures review of daily payroll punches and edits as necessary, records time and attendance occurrences for all associates in Time and Attendance Log
  • Ensuring that all job check lists have been completed daily:  Front Desk AM and PM, Fairmont President's Club, Concierge and Guest Services
  • Review three day forecast and adjusting staffing levels as needed
  • Review, verify and react to all group resumes, checking billing, room types, arrival, departure dates, and VIP designations
  • Ensure all parking requirements are sent to the Valet Parking Supervisor weekly and a follow up is done daily
  • Adhere to and sign off on all clerk cash handling, balancing of shift closings, and adjustments; 
  • Maximize our brand by promoting our upsells programs and managing guest’s appeasements
  • Complete with accuracy and timeliness any and all project related work designated by Director of Front Office operations
  • Completion of Night GSA’s duties when working the overnight shift alone
  • Other duties as assigned to stand for periods of time

 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Night Audit/Front Office Supervisor required
  • Must have a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of hotel operations
  • Highly organized, career and result oriented with the ability to be flexible with hours, days off, assignments and additional duties
  • Must work well under pressure in a fast paced environment and handle conflicting priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, especially knowledge of Opera Property Management System, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be a strong team player with proven leadership, development and delegating skills
  • Strong Financial and Math Skills
  • Previous accounting experience an asset

Physical Aspects of Position (includes but are not limited to):

  • Occasional walking and standing throughout shift
  • Frequent sitting throughout shift
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
