Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and Television Distribution (HETVD) sales team has an opening for a Vice President of Sales - Canada. The ideal candidate will have experience with the selling of media and feature films (post theatrical) both first-run and library (catalog) across windows and various platforms including conventional broadcast networks, specialty cable television and digital providers in the English and French Canadian marketplace. This position will report to the Executive Vice President, Pay Television, Digital, Canada, and International Home Entertainment Distribution.

The VP, Sales – Canada, will lead all aspects of the television sales/distribution function for the Canadian market. The sales/distribution function drives sales and distribution of movies, shows and series to conventional television broadcast networks and specialty television channels across the territory while managing Toronto based team to meet multiple goals in assigned area. This role also involves collaborating with local Disney Canadian lines of business to drive cross channel growth and opportunities, marketing and promotional ideas while also working directly with Burbank based sales support, strategy and business affairs to develop and implement strategic sales initiatives and business development.

  • Formulates Sales strategies for the Canada region
  • Sets, advocates and adjusts major policies and operating procedures
  • Collaborates and guides long-range plans for the region
  • Obtains and allocates resources to achieve strategic and operating goals
  • Leverage experience in the media industry to manage large accounts with leading Canadian media companies
  • Leverage local synergy opportunities with clients across functions and business units internally and externally including Theatrical, Home Entertainment, Parks and Resorts and Consumer Products.
  • Work with the sales team in developing, strategizing, negotiating, and closing deals with attention to nuances of Canadian regulations and distribution
  • Work with team to drive implementation of content strategies, content distribution deals, technical sales
  • This position requires some travel
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content distribution, marketplace intelligence, emerging technology and competitive landscape is essential
  • Ability to quickly establish oneself as confident and credible with Executive Management
  • Effectively translates data into actionable insights, strategies and persuasive influential presentations
  • Exhibits strong skills in interpersonal communication and writing
  • Understands the competitive landscape and current competitive trends in the Canada and US media/broadcast industry
  • A proven leader in setting directions in order to meet operating goals
Basic Qualifications
  • Established relationships within the Canadian syndication and sales community
  • 10+ years of experience managing local media sales in Canada
  • Must have a passion for media/entertainment
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and structurally, with a track record in cross-platform content licensing or syndication
  • Exceptional people skills – including written and communications skills required to build and maintain excellent client relationships
  • Fluent in French language is preferred
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Business Administration or related field required
