Job Summary

The Westin Seattle is looking for a Seasonal Baker who will prepare baked goods and pastries for guests using a high quality predetermined method in a timely and consistent manner.  The Baker will practice sanitation and safety in every aspect of their day to ensure guest satisfaction.  Cleanliness of the food service area and equipment is top priority in this position.



An exceptional candidate will have an energizing yet relaxing personality and:

-Must speak, read, write and understand the primary languages in the workplace

-Demonstrate good communication skills

-Be able to stand and exert well-paced ability for up to four hours in length

-Be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

-Must be able to push carts up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis

-The ability to physically handle knives, pots, mirrors, or other display items as well as grasp, lift and carry same from shelves

-Demonstrate an ability to use and handle various kitchen machinery including slicers, buffalo chopper, grinders, mixers, and other kitchen related equipment

-Ability to perform cutting skills on work surfaces, topped with cutting boards, three to four feet in height

-Ability to create, build, handle, and dismantle displays up to 8 feet tall, including ice carvings

-Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks

-High school or equivalent education

-Must be certified as a Baker

-One year of culinary experience in a pastry kitchen required

-Maintain a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance per Marriott standards

-Be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays

-Must have or be willing to get a Washington State Food Handler’s Card
