The Vice President, Data Domain Management is responsible for developing and managing the data and technology strategy used to monitor the health of Marriott’s Sales. Marketing and Customer Ecosystem and elevate the experience at each step of the B2C and B2B customer journeys.  Reporting to the VP of Omni Channel CRM & Data Strategy, this position will serve as the business leader for the Data strategy and manage a high-performing team responsible for 1) Big Data operations and Data architecture, and 2) Management and Implementation of the strategic roadmap, technology and governance for Digital, Distribution, Sales, Revenue and Marketing data-based Machine Learning, Analytics and Reporting solutions. This position will work closely with the Analytics organization and Growth, Digital, Loyalty, Marketing and Sales business leaders to ensure the short term and long-term business needs are met by the data platform; as well as, Information Technology (iT) counterparts to design and build the most effective and modern Big Data infrastructures.
 
 
CANDIDATE PROFILE
 
Education and Experience
 
  • 12+ years of professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a quantitative discipline (e.g., engineering, computer science, mathematics) or a technology discipline (e.g., computer science, information management).
  • MBA or advanced degree in information sciences, statistics, computer science, operations research preferred.
  • Extensive experience designing and operating modern Big Data platforms in a large consumer-led business
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with Cloud Big Data solutions (AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP preferred) with focus on Hadoop, Spark, BigQuery and other big data technologies
  • Deep understanding of the Advanced analytics and related data pipelines and operationalization at scale of machine learning model
     
     
     
    CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
     
    Omni Channel Data Strategy
  • Develop and manage the data and technology strategy used to monitor the health of Marriott’s Customer Ecosystem and elevate the experience at each step of the B2C and B2B customer journeys. 
  • Provide direction on how data should fit together and flow across Customer Touchpoints
  • Define and apply business rules for use of data in reporting and analytic environments
  • Establish the governance model associated with who uses data and how measures are defined
  • Create a framework for looking at business needs and how that translates to the way data is organized and delivered to the business.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain processes that promote appropriate data governance and data quality management to support analytic capabilities and business needs.
  • Leads major initiatives that ensure optimal data infrastructure is created to support BMSC strategies (e.g., Universal Guest ID).
  • Oversee the efforts on data requirements for BMSC applications (revenue management, CRM/loyalty, campaign management, etc) as well as maintenance of data schemas (i.e. various segmentation schemas for various purposes);
  • Lead discussions with third parties on data sharing needs, establish enterprise approach on data sharing while meeting monetization and security/privacy goals
  • Champion data product vision and strategy internally and externally. Evangelize and commercialize data products
  • Partner with the iT team to develop an operational road map to improve data quality and data governance processes within BMSC
  • Work with iT to deliver a state-of-the-art data infrastructure that provides the organization with timely, accurate, easy access to a variety of data in an integrated, uniform manner to enable analytics.

  • Ability to take complicated subject matter present it to Senior Management in a clear, concise and complete manner which facilitates executive decision making
  • Ability to interface with systems professionals in order to develop/refine decision support systems and ensure data integrity
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and to negotiate and settle differences without damaging relationships
