Financial Controller

Novotel Sydney Darling Square is seeking a full time Financial Controller to join our senior leadership team.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the General Manager you will be responsible for the commercial and financial aspect of our 230 room hotel, Pumphouse Sydney, hotel restaurant and bar, conferencing and events, and in room dining. You will be responsible for partnering with the business to understand all financial requirements, and will proactively source positive outcomes and assist in maximising margins.

In this critical role you will need to be comfortable and confident working alongside our Hotel leaders to coach and develop their commercial understanding and use your skills and knowledge to influence positive financial outcomes. Supported by a small team, you will be accountable for the continued growth and development of the Finance and Purchasing team.

Working closely with our Hotel owners you will be expected to be able to clearly communicate Hotel results, propose solutions and ideas to improve financial performance, and be able to take our leaders on a journey when presenting.

WHO ARE YOU?

To be successful in this role you will have strong commercial and business acumen, and tenacity to drive the top line to exceed targets. You will ideally have previous experience in a similar sized property, with a focus on high volume food & beverage outlet/s. You will have the ability to balance compliance responsibilities of the property, while supporting the wider Hotel team to deliver superior guest experiences.

You will be a proactive and solutions focussed leader, who takes a collaborative approach to decision making. Strong communication skills both verbally and written will be one of your key strengths, along with your ability to simplify complex financial matters to other leaders in the business. Experience will SunSystems, OPERA, TimeTarget, WageEasy, and Zambion will be highly regarded. Along with this you will have either completed your CPA, or will be currently completing your CPA.
