Job Title: Laundry Supervisor

Department: Housekeeping

Inspired & Supported by: Executive Housekeeper

Your purpose will be:  To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Linen Room and Valet departments. To assist in the forward-planning for the departments.

You will be accountable for:

  • To check manning levels in accordance with occupancy, to ensure that the department is adequately staffed at all times.
  • To ensure stock levels are kept to the set par stock.
  • To ensure that all items kept for guests use are controlled and par stocks maintained.
  • To compile the rotas for laundry and ensuring that staffing levels are kept in line with business levels on a weekly basis.
  • To check and clear all invoices for payment, ensuring staff laundries are coded correctly.

Your key responsibilities & contribution will be:

  • To ensure promptly answered calls from guests for laundry, dry cleaning and pressing services.
  • To deal with any guest queries or discrepancies on laundry/uniform returns.
  • To co-ordinate staff movement between Valet/Linen room when needed.
  • To attend the department meetings when required.
  • To assist with budget presentation and ensure that expenditure is kept in line with the budget.
  • To ensure On-line training is carried out with all new employees.
  • To ensure On-line training is carried out with existing staff in the event of new equipment being introduced into the department.
  • To carry out reviews with all Linen Room and Valet staff.
  • To prepare purchase requests for all linen items and cleaning supplies, in line with budget.
  • Maintain records of purchases and issues of stock for budget use.
  • Liaise with all Department Heads, to ensure adequate supplies of linen and uniforms are available.
  • To carry out inventories and keep index up-to-date.
  • To ensure that all laundered items are sorted, counted and stored.
  • To ensure all exchanges of linen to and from hotel outlets and colleagues are controlled and recorded (clean for the dirty is the system).
  • To ensure that all guest work is controlled and recorded to and from the cleaning contractor.
  • To ensure that all guest items ‘held’ in the Valet are logged and stored correctly.
  • To ensure that the Chief Engineer is informed promptly of any malfunction of machines, and the Executive Housekeeper.
  • To ensure that servicing and recording thereof is carried out as per the contract on all machines.
  • To ensure that all items – both house and guest – are cleaned to The Savoy standard.
  • To condemn, and record accordingly – with the Executive Housekeeper – all linen and uniforms not longer fit for use.
  • To ensure all uniforms are recorded correctly and signed off when a staff member leaves.
  • To ensure that uniforms are logged out and checked back from laundry contractor.
  • To ensure that the complete work area is kept clean and tidy and high-level cleaning is completed as per the schedule.
  • To make periodic visits to all areas of the hotel and make sure that linen is not being miss-used in any way.
  • To observe Health and Safety policies at all times, and report any potential hazards immediately.
  • To comply with the set standards of behaviour, discipline and appearance in the hotel.
  • Inform Security of matter relating to the security if the hotel, colleagues and guests property.
  • To carry out any other reasonable requests as required.

What you will need to do this role:

Essential:

Desirable:

  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Experience in multiple areas of the housekeeping function such as the laundry service, administration and leading people
