Travel Consultant Lead

Full-time, in the US

You will be the first person in the market and really a pioneer. You must be highly resourceful, self-sustained individual who can work well with minimum supervision and be comfortable working at the client office and be able to manage face to face conversations including managing some highly senior level executives.

As a Travel Consultant Lead, you are expected to provide an exceptional, high-touch service assisting customers. Also arranging business travel for Employees and Candidates. Customer service is at the core of this role and the incumbent must be able to go above and beyond the call of duty to provide an exceptional customer experience, embrace changes, and thrives in a fast-pace environment. You shall also be responsible for day-to-day management of a travel consultant team, including managing key performance indicator, workload, providing assistance and coaching.

A snapshot of this opportunity

  • Meet and exceed all performance targets and give feedback to the operations manager
  • Support, assist and coach travel agents to maximize efficiency and productivity
  • Works with performance data to maximum the effectiveness and efficiency of the team
  • Take proactive actions to improve internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Handle client reservations
  • Control and manage customer complaints and general queries
  • Control the workload of your team
  • Motivate and develop responsibility of team members by constant involvement, coaching and clear appraisal
  • Actively participate in the main HR processes: planning, evaluation, coaching and appraisal
  • Assists in the hiring and onboarding of new employees
  • Expertly uses the appropriate BCD Travel tools and systems to provide coaching and support to the Travel Consultant team
  • Strong understanding of a client travel policy and can appropriately guide and consistently provide consultation to the customer
  • Maintains knowledge of necessary regulations (DOT, TSA, passports, visas, etc.)
  • Supports BCD Travel and client driven initiatives
  • Anticipates and helps on potential challenges that may arise for the consultant
  • Reviews global distribution systems (GDS) queues daily to maintain quality control


How can you set yourself apart

  • Extensive experience working in the corporate travel industry, including agency operation
  • Solid working knowledge of the travel policies, procedures, and processes
  • Advanced skills on travel industry systems (i.e. GDS) Apollo
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated internet research skills for customer information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English 
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Able to work flexible hours, independently, exercising discretion and judgment
  • Demonstrated excellent professional customer service and problem resolution skills
  • Strong problem solving and/or critical thinking skills
