Job Title: Spa Therapist 

Department: Spa 

Reports to: Head Therapist/Assistant Spa Manager 

Scope and purpose of the position: The Spa Therapist is responsible for conducting Spa treatments to the highest standards and in accordance with training and guidelines. Other responsibilities include maintaining highest levels of hygiene and cleanliness within the treatment rooms, taking a pro-active approach to selling, scheduling and performing treatments and other services on offer in the Spa. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Provide professional massage or beauty service for Spa guests including herbal wraps, body treatments, massage, and facial treatments. 


  • Use products and amenities involved in the Spa treatment in order to customize and personalize the Spa experience. 


  • Utilize each of the retail products safety and accurately.  


  • Understand benefits, indications and contraindications of all spa services. 


  • Utilize the log book and follow daily work sheet.  


  • Help set-up and maintain the work area clean, hygienic and attractive. This includes preparation room, treatment rooms, locker rooms and guests’ facilities. 


  • Keep your work area neat, clean and quiet at all times.  


  • Utilize each of the rooms and provide information to guests about the services offered in the Spa as well as the Hotel.  


  • Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.  


  • Follow payroll and key procedures. 


  • Be on time and conscientious, keep the spa management informed in case of issues or tardiness. 


  • Ensure cleanliness of his/her uniform. Must have a professional appearance throughout the service: make-up, hairstyle, and varnish as indicated by the company standards. 


  • Provide indoor and outdoor treatments. 


  • Handle guest interactions with the highest level of courtesy and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible; resolving customer complaints; assisting guests and visitors in all inquiries in connection with spa services. 


  • Provide a courteous, professional and warm attitude towards guests, leads, supervisors, managers and co-workers. 


  • Comply with hygiene and safety rules, quality criteria and procedures within the department. This includes taking reasonable care and perform duties as instructed, preventing injuries to self and others. 


  • Adhere to core and culture Standards and Meet/Exceed Standard Tests undertaken. 


  • Perform other tasks or projects assigned by the Spa Management. 


  • Keep your work area neat, clean and quiet at all times.  


  • Provide information about the services offered in the Spa as well as the Hotel. 


  • Utilize/know each of the retail products safety and accurately.  


  • Report any incident (glitch) to the team or hotel management. 


  • Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.  


  • Upsell relevant treatments and retail products to guests, based on their needs and expected benefits. 


  • Work as part of a team to ensure effective running of The Spa department. 


Standard Duties: 

  • Display Standard awareness, set example for standard execution, testing and implementation. 


  • Read and ensure understanding of the hotel's employee handbook and the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.  


  • Adhere to the code of conduct, grooming and hygiene standards. 


  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities which, while outside the normal routine, are within the overall scope of the position. 


  • Report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform/attire and name badge.  Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the hotel and department personal appearance standards.   


  • Provide a friendly, courteous and professional service at all times.   


  • Display warmth, care and genuine enthusiasm when dealing with guests and maintain good working relationships, living The Golden Rule. 


  • Respond to any changes in the department as dictated by the needs of the industry, company or hotel. 


  • Flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capability as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments/areas if required, to meet business demands and guest service needs. 


  • Attend training and meetings as and when required. 


  • Provide a friendly and professional service that exceeds guest’s expectations. 


  • Report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform/attire and name badge.  To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the hotel and department personal appearance standards.   


  • Identify and report hazards; report any safety maintenance of equipment required. 


  • Respond properly in any Resort emergency or safety situation.
