The Role…

At Soho House Head of Membership & Communications will oversee the day-to-day responsibilities for multiple Houses, overseeing all aspects of the member experience, including House events, member operations, and all member communications.  They will directly oversee the local teams consisting of the membership and events managers, leading them to deliver the best possible experience for members in the Houses.

 The Head of Membership & Communications will report to the Director of Membership for North America working collaboratively to ensure we recruit creative, quality members and retain the “magic” throughout our Houses.

A successful Head of Membership & Communications knows that partnership and collaboration across multiple departments within the Houses is imperative for creating the engaging, friendly experience our creative members enjoy. The Head of Membership is responsible for gathering feedback about the member experience, levels of service, facilities and developing appropriate responses to ensure a consistently high-quality product for members.

Main Duties…

  • Drive member retention and acquisition to foster an engaged and diverse membership body
  • Oversee the entire membership team including but not limited to recruitment, on-boarding, training, development, scheduling, and disciplinary needs
  • Develop and administer membership and member events budgets
  • Work collaboratively to create a cohesive environment to deliver an excellent member experience throughout the region
  • Foster engaged committees in all the Houses, ensuring committee members are generating quality member applications
  • Maintain a constant presence in the Houses; ensuring that all teams are spending sufficient time on the floor with members as well as their outreach and administrative responsibilities
  • Play an active part in the creation and implementation of the members events programming, helping to ensure that events are innovative, and well-executed and thoughtfully communicated
  • Work with local membership teams to extract creative content from members for our various platforms
  • Create competencies and objectives for all membership team members
  • Work inter-departmentally across operations, content, digital, events, partnerships and people & development teams to deliver the region’s objectives
  • Will require working beyond normal office hours, including nights and weekends in line with the needs of the business
  • Oversight of Member Events Budget and Membership Salaries
  •  


Requirements/ Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a large team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A long-term resident of Los Angeles with an extensive local network
  • Adept critical thinking skills, sound judgment and a solution-oriented approach
  • Energetic, flexible, proactive, and collaborative
  • A focused leader who can develop and guide strategic initiatives while addressing immediate business needs
  • Ability to create and manage budgets
  • Communications or events background is ideal
