an opportunity for an experienced General Manager to join:

A great opportunity has arisen for a passionate General Manager to lead this super Common Room with an excellent team - The Penny Theatre is an iconic single level stunning looking Common Room pub with great standards & amenities in Canterbury, Kent. The pub has a fantastic middle “Theatre” and a very attractive external rear seating to the rear of the business for up to 100 guests.
The Penny has a strong seven days a week food and drink trade and It is famous locally for its friendly and warm service to students and has a strong local following, serves great food & beer, Regular Friday night live music can draw a big crowd and is a great reason to visit, fun themed quiz nights are a big weekly draw alongside great sports viewing (Sky & BT) with these amazing internal and external areas and the buzzing atmosphere throughout the week especially on Friday and Saturday nights this pub really is a great fit in our Common room brand.
The successful applicant will have previous experience of managing a similar style business and have the skills to consistently deliver weekly net food sales in excess of £5000. The right candidate needs to be passionate about Common room and delivery of our drink & food offer, deliver the best cocktails & craft beers and also have a broad experience of delivering a fantastic customer experience, have the ability to innovate and engage with the student and local community and also have the ability to grow sales passionately, recruit, lead and continue to develop a great team.
There is plenty of potential to earn high level bonus with active and passionate leadership being key values to continue and fulfil the pubs sales and high profit potential.
The successful applicant will be a self-motivated high calibre individual with great leadership qualities capable of interacting with food and drink customers alike and have a flair for innovation and marketing of key weekly event management.
You will be able to grow the food and drink sales through excellent customer service and have two years’ experience of managing a similar style business operation previously consistently delivering in excess of £25,000 weekly total net sales.
As a General Manager, you will need to be able to demonstrate great leadership skills and
the ability to build a high performing team in order to control, develop and improve all
aspects of the business including: P&L, people, standards, legal compliance, service and
