Our story began with The California. When founder and owner Tony Megaro dreamt it up, he set out to create a truly special place. He succeeded.
It would have been simple to create another faceless hotel, just like the chains popping up all over the capital. But Tony had a love of design that he knew others would want to share in. The California was to be his gallery. A venue to showcase his treasures, explore his design ideas and allow creative spirits to share in his love. And they could stay the night too.
King’s Cross wasn’t too desirable in the mid 1980s. But Tony made his choice with an eye on the future. His instincts were right. This part of town is now the place to be. Every street is home to several great bars and top-class restaurants on every corner. And with the world-class King’s Cross St. Pancras station sitting in our lap we have all of London, the UK and Europe within a few hundred metres.
We feel pretty lucky.
