This course is designed to equip you with a 360° view of organizing meetings and events. Throughout this course, you will discover event management theory and tools with an abundance of supporting resources to help you understand the multidisciplinary nature of the MICE industry. You will be given the knowledge and tools to plan, produce and tailor-make events to local, national and international audiences.

Event managers are needed to generate event ideas and facilitate them professionally. From a global event like the St Patrick’s Festival to regional food and sports weekends, public celebrations and festivals, event management has evolved into big business. This growth nationally and internationally has been fuelled by the increase in the number, size and sophistication of events. Ireland has a thriving events sector which hosts exciting and varied events and festivals throughout the year. In this four-year course, you’ll acquire practical and theoretical skills in all aspects of event management. You’ll become knowledgeable in areas such as event planning and design, marketing, sponsorship, staging and health and safety. You’ll be equipped with the knowledge, understanding and professional management skills you need. As well as event-specific subjects such as Event Industry Studies and Event Planning and Production, you’ll also follow a broad business course with subjects such as Management, Marketing, Finance and Law.European languages are increasingly important in the world of work. You can choose to study one European language. Subjects include business communications, digital fundamentals, event industry studies, event operations (with 150 hours’ work experience), intercultural awareness in HTLE (hospitality, tourism, leisure & events) or language, management, financial accounting, fundraising and sponsorship, event planning and production, conference management; events, leisure and tourism enterprise development, event industry law, event safety and health, strategic management, and entrepreneurship. There’s a six-month work placement in Year 3. On graduation, you may proceed to postgraduate studies leading to the award of MSc, MPhil or PhD at research institutes and universities worldwide.
The Swiss Alpine Diploma in Events and Conventions Management programme is delivered in an actual hotel and hospitality campus, in order to offer students' opportunities to see service related practices taking place. Equal emphasis is given to acquiring knowledge on the operation and management of different departments and to applying it in a real business environment. In order to achieve this, students of the Events and Conventions Management programme, participate in various conferences, exhibitions and special events that happen in Athens.
First year students study about MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions) operations such as customer service, food and beverage service, event set up and organization, venue selection, budgeting, accounting principles, and introduction to Event management. During the second year the students become more involved in the managerial aspects of Event and Convention operations and the hospitality industry in general. This involves the event management process, contracts and negotiations, vendor relations, financial accounting, human resources, organizational behavior, and Events and Conventions marketing studies.
In this way, students will get the necessary knowledge and ambition to participate in an actual industry practice placement during the summers.

Conversion Programme The programme is aimed both at professionals currently employed within the event sector and those from complementary backgrounds who wish to enter the event field. In this context it may be of particular interest to people coming from marketing, languages, geography, hospitality, tourism or business backgrounds. It is anticipated that graduates of this programme will find employment in a wide range of positions within and outside the industry. This programme aims to equip participants with the necessary expertise to plan and manage, co-ordinate and develop event businesses and projects in Ireland and abroad. It is aimed at both professionals currently employed within event related activity and those from related fields. This dynamic programme encourages interaction between academics and industry practitioners from the national and international event sector.
