The role
This is a three month engagement to get the Heritage by Kaldi's bar open and running on its own. You will finalize the beverage menu alongside our F and B team, build the standards and documentation behind it, train our bartenders and baristas to execute it consistently, and stay through opening to steady the bar through its first weeks of live service. At the end of the contract the bar should run without you. That is the measure of the job. Competitive salary plus accommodation, transportation, and return flights.

Su di te
Several years behind a serious cocktail bar, with time in a lead, head bartender, or bar manager role. Proven experience opening a bar or launching a beverage menu, ideally in a new venue. Genuine coffee competence alongside cocktail skill, since this program runs both and the same team covers both. Real ability to teach. Much of this job is standing next to someone and correcting their hands, patiently, for weeks. Comfort building recipes under sourcing constraints and writing them up clearly. Working English, and the judgment to train effectively across a language gap.
Nice to have
Formal bartending certification or SCA credentials. Experience working in East Africa or another emerging market. Background in menu costing. Amharic.

L'azienda
Kaldi's is Ethiopia's largest coffee house chain, operating four distinct concepts. Heritage by Kaldi's is our all day breakfast and beverage concept, built around a scratch kitchen, house baked goods, and a drinks program that spans classic espresso, frappes, signature builds, and an extensive cocktail menu. It is a young concept and the person who takes this role will help shape how the bar runs.
