Hedonisia Hawaii

Hedonisia Hawaii began officially in 2004. The land we purchased was a junkyard. Rusted vehicles were all over the property. The volcanic crater on the property was filled with garbage, tires and scrap metal. Weeds and cane grass had grown over much of the junk so that it was only when we began to clean up the land that we realized what a gigantic polluted mess we had just bought!

Nevertheless we persevered. Slowly over the first years and with the enthusiastic help of many Fair-Trade Volunteers, we began to restore the land to it’s natural beauty. At our own expense we removed 18 junked vehicles left by the previous owner. We also took out 7 truckloads of industrial garbage and over 50 tires from the Jungle Crater.

There are still some broken vehicle relics from those dark days but now the land has been greatly restored to it’s natural beauty. The volcanic crater is now one of the most popular attractions on the property!

But our environmental work did not stop there. As founding members of the Hawaii Sustainable Community Alliance we are very active in local politics supporting legislation that protects communities such as ours which face continual government persecution. And though we do a lot of land and agricultural work (which we call ‘body’ work) we have continued to evolve our sustainable community by adding Mind and Heart work and a more feminist focus to our community projects.

However, it is not all about work! Pleasure and fun are essential elements of our community!

At Hedonisia we realize that quirkiness is not just a word but a business practice! One of the ways that we show our sassy side is with the art and signs we have throughout the community. They have become rather popular. Visitors often comment and giggle! They are hopefully something that will bring you a little smile as you enjoy your vacation in paradise.
