Michael Ellis Chief Culinary Officer

Michael is the world's first Chief Culinary Officer and he believes this showcases how committed Jumeirah is to making their Food & Beverage a true competitive advantage.

Michael was born in the USA, but a trip to France as a teenager quickly made him realize his heart belonged to the French culture. As a result, he moved to Paris to study in a culinary school. However, he realized that working behind the stoves wasn’t for him and that he was more enticed by the F&B world as a whole.

Michael’s passion for the restaurant world eventually led him to become the Head of the Michelin Guide for seven years. Leading one of the most influential restaurant guides in history, visiting so many different countries, and being exposed to so many different cultures gave Michael a unique view of the latest trends and the world of cooking.

When Jumeirah eventually approached him, Ellis knew that he was dealing with a great brand with a tremendous potential. This was his opportunity to take his unique F&B experience and make a true global impact.

Jumeirah's F&B ambition is to become best in class, and this relies greatly on its ability to identify the demand and preferences of each property, and then execute the concept to perfection. For Michael, this can only be achieved with the right people, whose passion for F&B and their guests makes all the difference.
