In 1989 the late Mrs Bettye Gray bought the hotel and set about creating a standard of luxury hitherto unavailable in Cornwall. Over the last decade Bettye's grandson, the hotel's current owner, Toby Ashworth has maintained a traditional feeling of unstuffy elegance. This is not a designer hotel.
