Whether you are continuing your studies or returning to postgraduate study to improve your employment prospects, this MSc Tourism Management course will help you develop a range of management skills to achieve your goals. You will develop your understanding of planning and development, tourist behaviour, marketing, finance and strategy in the tourism industry, including festivals, heritage sites, cities and resorts. Throughout your MSc Tourism Management studies you will enhance your skills by engaging in practical activities that are currently in high demand in the public and private sectors, such as consultation processes, marketing and PR campaigns and systems evaluation.

Real world learning You will get involved in consultancy work and projects with a variety of tourism businesses and organisations such as Visit Peak District and Derbyshire Destination Marketing, Chatsworth House, Malta Tourism Authority, New Zealand Tourism and Research Institute (NZTRI), Botswana Tourism Authority, Novotel Hotels International and the Merlin entertainment group. Links with employers and industry There are many opportunities for you to meet industry professionals as we invite guest speakers and organise industry days on campus. There are also opportunities to work on real life projects helping you to combine theory and practice. We are accredited by the Tourism Management Institute and a member of the Institute of Travel & Tourism - assuring you of our good industry links and reputation, and that our course provides you with the knowledge understanding, skills and experience to prepare you for a career in tourism. Our academic team are widely published authors contributing to academic and industry journals. They are heavily involved with the needs of the tourism industry and are members of professional and research groups such as the European Network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT), the Association for Tourism and Leisure Education and Research (ATLAS) and the Tourism Management Institute (TMI). Placements - Available to UK/EU students only Study full time and you can choose to include an integrated work placement of up to 12 months. By choosing this option, you will study your Independent Scholarship module ‘on-the-job’, allowing you to research real world issues faced by your company. If you are not currently employed or you are an international student, we can support you to find a suitable placement. Study while you earn Our e-learning strategy allows you to study whilst in employment. You have the opportunity to study ‘blended learning modules’ where most of your learning is online supported by your tutors. These blended learning modules are accompanied with block modules held on campus. We are accredited by the Tourism Management Institute and a member of the Institute of Travel & Tourism - assuring you of our good industry links and reputation, and that our course provides you with the knowledge understanding, skills and experience to prepare you for a career in tourism You will study with students from around the world helping you to develop a global perspective with your tourism management skills You can study MSc Tourism Management full or part time. If you study full time, there is also an option to include a placement in the UK or abroad.
