Referred to as “the crown jewel of Harbor East” the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore has 256 guest rooms including 45 suites. 

The role of the Learning and Development Manager

The Learning and Development Manager delivers workplace learning, service improvement programs, and initiatives to best achieve long-term business success, while adding value in meeting the hotel’s needs by identifying and implementing learning and performance improvement strategies that support the hotel’s strategic direction. We expect the Learning and Development Manager to promote a continuous learning culture, partner with stakeholders to ensure employees are trained on the needed skills to successfully perform their jobs and promote talent development. The Learning & Development manager is a partner in the People & Culture Team and may support other P&C initiatives such as employee events. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for flawless service, be creative and adaptive to support the need of the hotel operation, and bring the highest level of integrity and work ethic to the role.

Key knowledge:

  • Adult learning styles and principles
  • Needs Assessment methodologies and learning needs identification
  • Learning technologies, such as e-learning options and distance learning
  • Theories and types of evaluation for measuring program impact, such as Kirkpatrick’s 4 levels
  • Project planning tools and processes
  • Communication and influencing strategies
  • Basic budgeting, accounting and financial management Current on industry trends affecting workplace learning


Key skills:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Facilitation skills Instructional design skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills


Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a managerial capacity
  • Experience in adult education or a similar environment
  • Experience in hotel operations, preferably luxury hospitality or other service environments
  • Experience managing in diverse cultures.


A university degree or equivalent experience required.
