Position Summary


Kaldi’s Coffee, Ethiopia’s largest coffee house chain, is seeking an experienced chef to curate the menus for two connected all day breakfast concepts on a 3 month contract based in Addis Ababa. This is a hands on, build it right engagement for a chef who can think in systems, standardize for volume, and elevate for a flagship. All relocation and living costs are covered.


About the Concepts


Both concepts center on an all day breakfast offering, pitched at two different levels:


• Kaldi’s (production line): The accessible, everyday tier. A standardized, scalable menu built for consistent execution across multiple branches by trained line staff, with strong coffee pairings and a dedicated healthy drink menu.

• Heritage (make to order): The elevated, premium tier. A refined, made to order version of the same all day breakfast concept, with higher standards of plating, ingredient quality, and presentation in a more intimate flagship setting.


Key Responsibilities


• Develop complete, costed menus for both concepts, including a healthy drink program

• Standardize recipes and production processes for multi branch consistency at the Kaldi’s level

• Elevate the same all day breakfast concept into a refined, made to order experience for Heritage

• Conduct a full cost analysis of each menu and every individual menu item, working alongside the project coordinator and the Heritage manager

• Set up kitchen workflow, prep systems, and documentation that line staff can follow and sustain

• Establish quality and plating standards for both concepts

• Train and hand over to the in house team so the systems run without you after the contract

Sobre ti

Here are the general requirements for the chef role:


• Proven experience developing menus for high volume, multi outlet, or fast casual production environments (essential)

• Equally able to deliver an elevated, made to order menu for a premium flagship concept

• Strong background in all day breakfast and international cuisine

• Skilled in recipe standardization, portioning, and cost control

• Experience conducting menu and per item cost analysis

• Strong documentation and training ability, able to leave behind systems that work without you

• Proven ability to set up kitchen workflow and prep systems from scratch

• Experience in the GCC / Dubai hospitality market preferred

• Willing and able to relocate to Addis Ababa for the 3 month contract period

• Fluent in English
