Job Summary

The Bastien’s studio Manager (BSM) has the role to run the overall operation of the studio, helped by his assistant manager (when position exists). He has the task to to provide the full range of Bastien services as outlined in the Spa service menu and promote the overall philosophy and services of the Spa. Ensure that all operational procedures, codes of conduct and standards of appearance set down by the Spa are adhered to.

BSM is the major link in between BGA and the resort, he/she needs to ensure that there is a great communication, and a nice atmosphere of trust in between both parties. BSM has the task to represent BGA wherever BGA needs to be represented, always with class and passion.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reports to shift on time, dressed in the issued uniform, and groomed as described in the resort’s grooming standards.
  • To ensure that Bastien Gonzalez’ concept is applied and does not contra indicate the Spa pedicure.
  • To actively promote Bastien services and products within the resort and BGA on commercial and communicative basis.
  • To ensure good communication is maintained at all times between Bastien Gonzales and Spa Management.
  • To be responsible for smooth running of day to day operation, equipment, products, cleanliness, hygiene, safety and security of the Bastien service area’s before and after every guest. This set up must follow the Spa Standard Operating Procedure.
  • To check all bookings on booking engine prior to commencing shift and throughout the day.
  • To be flexible when last minute treatment changes occur, read all necessary guest comments/profiles in order to provide 5 star service.
  • To ensure that guest empathy and wellbeing during all treatments is maintained.
  • To provide the finest personalized service and ultimate guest experience possible at all times.
  • To be in charge of Bastien Products stock control, stock takes and orders to ensure that minimum holding levels are maintained at all times.
  • To compile inventory reports twice a month and submit to Spa Manager.
  • To use the correct quantities of products as specified by the manufacturer and not exceed that amount.
  • To actively assist in promoting other Spa products and services to guests.
  • To be aware of all treatments offered and any promotions on offer at any given time.
  • To complete daily opening and closing checklists for the treatment area and report to the Duty Manager in case there is any maintenance needed.
  • To support reception team and assist with guest welcome and greeting procedures and guest enquiries.
  • To conduct spa tour whenever required.
  • To ensure all guest comments and feedback are followed up promptly and reported to Spa Manager.
  • To conduct activities/ classes for guests or team members as required or scheduled.


 

  • To assist with Duty Manager’s shifts and tasks as assigned by the Spa Manager.
  • To stay updated with developments in the spa industry.
  • Performs any additional duties as may be requested by Management.
  • Assist with the department’s operational budget ensuring that it is in line and costs are strictly controlled.
  • Complies with the Resort’s purchasing and stores requisitioning procedures, in respect of internal and external supplies.
  • To achieve the set budget target and maximize the Bastien Gonzalez revenue by up selling treatments and products.
  • To ensure that booking strategies utilize therapist’s time effectively and maximize the revenue.
  • To perform the financial analysis of the Bastien Gonzalez operation.
  • To ensure all colleague actively promote and sell the Spa and Fitness services, products and activities.
  • Ensures that a safe, hygienically fit working environment is maintained at all times and reports any concerns or faults immediately.
  • To ensure that all fellow colleagues follow safety rules and operating procedures.
  • To be knowledgeable of the contraindications of services and products and act in accordance.
  • To ensure the team maintains the cleanliness and hygiene of all spa areas, in accordance with the Health, Safety and Hygiene Legislation.
  • To be fully conversant with all health and safety, fire and emergency procedures.
  • Ensures that disciplinary actions are taken, when necessary, according to resort’s policies.
  • To be courteous to guests and other team members at all times.
  • To be flexible whenever treatment changes occur or additional duties are required by Spa Manager/Head Therapist.
  • To be accountable for all actions.
  • Attends daily and monthly Spa briefings.
  • Continuously trains and motivates subordinates to ensure resorts standards are maintained.
  • Delegates responsibilities to colleague and ensures tasks are completed.
  • Ensures that channels of communication are respected and information is disseminated to the correct receivers.
  • Attends all relevant One&Only training.
  • Attends all training as assigned by Spa Manager.
  • Responsible for training of all spa team as well as Front Office/Villa host team on Bastien Gonzalez Concept & constantly monitor the knowledge level.
  • To attend weekly Guest Cocktail Party in order to promote Bastien Gonzales, Spa and Fitness Services.
  • Performs flexibility if working long hours when required.
  • Handles any guest’s complaint in a professional manner, as per resort’s Policy & Procedure (service recovery).
  • Ensures excellent communication and working relationships with colleagues are maintained and contribute to the team spirit.
  • Knows and applies resort’s Policies & Procedures, including those for the emergency situations.
  • Ensures maintenance work is completed, in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensures all fixed assets are well maintained.
  • Ensures that all tasks assigned by superiors are completed, in a timely fashion.
  • Should be in abidance with the expectations defined in the job responsibilities.
  • Attendance and Punctuality.
  • Individual productivity, work efficiency.
  • Training of Spa & FO colleague on Bastien Gonzalez Concept and monitoring their performance.
  • Guest Satisfaction scores/comments.
  • Employee Satisfaction Index measured on monthly basis.
  • Achieving of budget.
  • Control of departmental costs –cost of sales
  • To perform any additional duties as may require by the management.


 

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

  • Fluent in English written and spoken, other languages a distinctive advantage
  • Prior education and Diplomas as Pedicure, podiatrist.
  • Three years of professional experience in Podiatry.
  • Thorough knowledge of human body, anatomy and physiology from hips to feet/toes.
  • Strong skills in administration.
  • Previous experience in a five star Resort/Spa (preferred)
  • To have a broad understanding of feet treatments, massage and skin analysis.
  • To possess outstanding communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and aptitude to maintain a very hygienic environment.
  • To have a positive and proactive attitude.
  • To have an outstanding customer service skills and a welcoming and sociable personality.
  • Strong skills as leader and interpersonal and social skills.
  • Experience in handling guest complaints effectively.
  • Strong command over all processing documents, computer skills and managing databases
  • The ability to operate basic office equipment.
  • Strong skills in handle and lead the team and the operation.
  • Flexible schedule, available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
