We are currently looking for a Senior Manager / Assistant Vice President Engineering – Operations to support hotels in the region to operate in accordance to the Group’s standards. You will monitor processes, implement structured training and provide technical support to ensure compliance to these standards.

As a Senior Manager / Assistant Vice President Engineering – Operations we rely on you to

  • Assist in further developing, updating and translating of the Shangri-La Engineering Services Manual, Fire Life Safety Manual, Fire Life Safety Clearance Manual, Loss Prevention Manual, Crisis Management Manual, Best Practices Manual, Computerised Maintenance and Work Order systems, Audit Documents & Pre-opening Documentation.
  • Monitor that Loss Prevention Manual, Fire & Life Safety Manual, Fire Life Safety Clearance Manual and Crisis Management Manual and requirements are being implemented by the hotels and recommend improvements as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update effective Energy Management and Maintenance Management Guidelines for use by existing hotels. Monitor implementation of these by the hotels and advise relevant parties where there are deficiencies.
  • Monitor that all hotel mechanical and electrical services are reviewed or audited periodically in accordance with established SLIM guidelines.
  • Monitor that all hotels are implementing SLIM Engineering initiatives per SLIM guidelines.
  • Implement a structured and coordinated training process in conjunction with SLIM-HR to ensure proper succession planning for level 1, 2, & 3 Engineering Staff.
  • Assist in the developing, updating and translating of the Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts Mechanical and Electrical Design Standards, briefing material and design criteria for all mechanical and electrical systems
  • Support hotels to review, evaluate and approve mechanical and electrical concepts submitted by consultants or contractors.
  • Support hotels to review feasibility studies on specific hotel related engineering projects.
  • Monitor present and forecast future trends, systems and practices in hotel mechanical and electrical services technology. Recommend actions for implementation in new hotels.
  • Conduct site inspections and report on progress, including areas of concern related to the mechanical and electrical installation and associated works
  • Represent SLIM Engineering Division during project co-ordination meetings.
  • Assist in the pre-opening period of new hotels & renovation projects for the mechanical and electrical services. Establish manning levels and set HEOS requirements for the Engineering Division.
  • Provide feedback on problems and propose solutions arising from current projects during the design and construction phase.
  • Conduct site inspections and report on progress, including areas of concern related to the mechanical and electrical installation and associated works.
  • Provide support to ensure that the Testing and Commissioning is properly implemented.
  • Conduct Fire Life Safety Clearance inspection and testing, and follow up on defect rectification
  • Provide support to ensure that soft and grand openings activities are properly implemented.
  • Conduct post opening review and support to new hotels to ensure compliance to operations and maintenance standards, and rectification of project defects.


We are looking for someone who has

  • 10+ years of experience in relevant experience in Engineering field
  • Must obtain the Certified Energy Manager qualification
  • Prior Electrical experience preferred
  • Identify new opportunities for bulk purchasing of materials, tools, plants & equipment and assist in finalizing arrangements.
  • Always embrace and ensure the effective implementation of group wide Quality Certification process (ISO 14001, OSHAS 18001, LEED, Green Building, etc.).
  • Experience working in corporate hospitality industry is an advantage
