Housekeeper and Pot Washer
Sobre el trabajo
We are looking for sociable person with a background in room or property cleaning and/or kitchen portering to join our overseas team as a Housekeeper in one of our chalet-hotels next winter. The successful candidate must already have the right to work in the EU or France already in place.
Our Housekeepers are a key member of the team, assisting our front-of-house team during service and it is their responsibility to ensure that our accommodation and guest rooms are kept clean and tidy. Without their behind-the-scenes work and eye for detail, our guests would not be able to enjoy the true ‘Ski Miquel Experience’.
This is a role for people who are willing to work hard and enjoy all that the mountains have to offer. If you do, your work ethic will be rewarded with a job that gives you plenty of time on the slopes.
The Company
We are a family-run business based in Hove (near Brighton) with over 40 years’ experience in the travel industry. We own most of our chalet-hotels, and with 85% of our bookings are either repeat guests or word-of-mouth recommendations we like to think we're pretty good at what we do.
The company was founded in 1980, after our owner and a colleague decided to start their own travel business. With five permanent members of staff in our ‘offices’ when guests or staff call or e-mail; they know exactly who their talking to. We don't like to hide behind e-mails or answerphone messages - We're upfront and personal, and we want to talk directly to our customers so that we can provide the best level of service for them again and again. It's this close-knit work ethic that has turned Ski Miquel into the much-loved travel company it is today.
With five to eleven members of staff in each resort, we work hard to achieve the level of service that our customers have come to expect. Creating a fun and friendly atmosphere in our chalets is our main aim, and we do this by ensuring that we hire the best staff.
If you’re looking for a great company to work for during the winter season then you’ve found it!
The Role
The role has two main focal points in assisting with clearing up the food service and ensuring our properties are kept spotless for our guests to enjoy. The shifts will vary each day, allowing for you to enjoy time on the mountain most days. The following is an outline of the principal tasks that are expected of our Housekeepers over the course of a normal week:
In the morning you will be required to assist with clearing up the breakfast service and help prepare the dining room for afternoon tea. This will be followed by making sure all the communal areas of the chalet-hotel are clean for the guests to enjoy later in the day.
Our guest rooms are cleaned twice a week, following the breakfast service, and this process will be overseen by the Housekeeper with assistance from a Chalet Host.
In the evening, the focus is on helping to clear up dinner, so you will join the team halfway through service to assist with washing the dishes and clearing the decks before setting up for the following morning's breakfast.
Changeover day is the longest day of the week, with deep cleaning of all bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas before the new guests arrive. It is your responsibility as a Housekeeper to lead the way with this, ensuring the chalet-hotel is warm and welcoming for their arrival.
The Housekeeper role requires high attention to detail and hard work alongside the rest of the team, but is a satisfying role and provides a great opportunity to explore the mountains in your free time.
