Job Qualifications

· Holder of an international certification in a recognized fitness instructor and process a degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field. Practical experience in fitness instruction, whether through internships, volunteer work, or previous employment, is often preferred.

· Should ideally be a well-built, physically fit, trained, and qualified Fitness Instructor with previous experience, preferably within the hospitality industry. Creative and able to perform outdoor exercises water exercises and recreation activities. You must also have a good command of English and positively contribute to sales activities thereby maximizing revenue along with the ability to solve problems effectively. Computer skills are an advantage.

·The ideal candidate will be a positive and proactive individual with a true passion for sports and an outgoing, charismatic, and approachable character. You have a high aptitude for customer care and strong motivational skills, along with the capability to influence and guide and the ability to develop and build relationships easily while possessing the following additional competencies.

Responsibilities

Administration

› Maintains the Daily Log Book system.

›     Ensures all employees provide a courteous and professional service at all times.

›     Handles guest and employee enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, reporting complaints or problems if no immediate solution can be found, whilst feeding back a prompt follow up.

›     Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.

Operational

›     Responsible for maintenance/safety in gymnasium and supervising exercise programme for members and guests.

›     Reports for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and nametag at all times.

›     Teaches aerobic classes to members and guests in accordance with the aerobic schedule.

›     Works in close coordination with the Assistant Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the Gymnasium and aerobic room.

›     Responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, cleanliness and safety in the gymnasium and aerobic room.

›     Responsible for teaching any scheduled exercise classes that have been arranged by the Assistant Manager.

›     Ensures that members and guests use the gymnasium and aerobic studio wearing the correct attire.

›     Conducts a daily check of all exercise equipment in the gymnasium and records the repairs that are necessary as required by policy and procedures.

›     Ensures that there is always a minimum of one instructor on duty on the gymnasium floor at all times.

›     Maintains close contact with guests/members and communicates feedback from them regarding the operation of the gymnasium and aerobic room to the Assistant Manager as required.

›     Conducts fitness evaluation/reassessments for members and guests on a regular basis with regards to the standards required. 

›     Conducts personal training referencing guidelines under Policy and Procedure.

›     Conducts monthly fitness center activities.

›     Organize and supervise regular fitness-related activities and events to maximize members' enjoyment/use of the gym and to keep ahead of our competition.

›     Handling the recreation activities and cooperation with the team for outdoor activities and the day pass access.

›     Develop and maintain professionally safe and effective fitness procedures, programs, and activities in the gym, recreation indoors and outdoors, and always ensure proper fitness practice.

›     Co-ordinate the aerobics/exercise program and studio usage and continually seek ways of introducing new ideas to maximize revenues.

›     Develop and supervise the children’s activities: e.g. fit kids

›     Supervise the cleaning and maintenance of the gym ensuring clear standards are always met and equipment is always in good working order

›     Aware of the rules and regulations of the gym and recreation and how to deal with guest applications for memberships and their process

›     Understand the entire company policies in each designated area and be aware of how to operate the micros computer system for the billing of all services.

›     Assist the Director of Spa & Recreation and the team in achieving membership targets through the ‘Bodylines Marketing Plan’

Other Duties

›     Ensures high standards of personal presentation and grooming.

›     Responds to changes in the Fitness Centre as dictated by the industry, company and hotel.

›     Exercises responsible behavior at all times and positively representing the hotel management team.

›     Reads the hotel's Employee Handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to fire, hygiene, health and safety.

›     Attends training sessions and meetings as and when required.

›     Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Special Requirements:

(Language / Technical Skills) English / Arabic (advantage)

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• 3+ years of experience with a recreational program (preferred)
• Understanding of youth and senior sports and programs
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Flexible schedule

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Recreation Instructor to help coordinate and run community classes and special events. In this role, you will collaborate with the recreation director to plan activities, including holiday events, senior activities, and youth sports and after-school programs. On a daily basis, you will set up and supervise classes and activities, coordinate the schedules of part-time staff and volunteers, monitor inventory of supplies and order more when necessary, and complete administrative paperwork. We prefer candidates who have at least three years of experience working with recreation programs.
