Overview: This sales and service position is responsible for generating catering revenue, managing events, and working collaboratively with the Food & Beverage and Culinary team. The Catering Sales & Events Manager is responsible for prospecting new business, securing repeat business opportunities, guiding planners through the planning process, and executing terms of contracts.

  • Responsible for all aspects of the sales process, from receiving inquiries to creating initial proposals, negotiating rates/availability and food and beverage, contracting, collecting payments, and coordinating and executing event and guestroom details during the program dates.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and do what it takes to secure a business that meets or exceeds revenue expectations and profit goals.
  • Solicit new and repeat clients using multiple channels, such as networking events, outside calls, proactive sales efforts, and marketing.
  • Work with team members to maximize the hotel’s function space.
  • Work closely with appropriate Departments to find solutions to operational challenges that impact the effectiveness of overall sales/catering/event services performance.
  • Foster a positive work environment that boosts morale and productivity and improves communication between managers, clients, and other departments.
  • Create accurate and professional quality Contracts, Group Resumes, Event Orders, Diagrams, and other communication forms as necessary.
  • Negotiate food & beverage banquet prices, function space, and hotel services within approved departmental booking guidelines.
  • You must meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales revenue goals to achieve the annual budget.
  • Professionally represent the resort and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in community and industry organizations and trade events, including sales trips.
  • Find up-sell opportunities and identify sources for increased ancillary revenue.
  • Conduct resort site tours, client planning visits, and throughout the program's execution to maximize the customer experience and increase ancillary hotel revenue.
  • Perform to luxury service standards when working with both external and internal customers.
  • Set up, lead, and review pre- and post-conference reviews and billings with the client and hotel departments.
  • Review all invoices sent to the client; the invoice should be accurate and timely to maximize the business return.
  • Responsible for the compilation of all cancellation/attrition charges for each group.
  • Complete administrative duties as required.
  • Attend weekly BEO, Resume, and other internal meetings as required.


Language: Required to speak, write, and read fluently in English.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of an international degree in Hotel Management or progressive work-related experience.

Experience: Two years of progressive luxury resort sales and/or equivalent experience.

Skills:

  • Strong selling and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of creativity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle difficult situations and/or guests.
  • Strong computer knowledge in Windows environment and proficiency in property and catering management systems (preferably Opera and Delphi FDC/Sales Force).


The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. [If applicable: This position also may be eligible for bonuses.] Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience, location, and education.
