Job Brief
The Handyman enhance guest comfort through a versatile role encompassing electrical, plumbing, painting, masonry, and carpentry tasks. A multi-skilled professional, adept at troubleshooting and contributing to diverse maintenance aspects.
Responsibilities and duties for this position shall include, but not limited to the following areas and
activities.
Electrical Tasks:
- Minimize breakdowns of electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain:
- Air conditioning and ventilation systems in laundry and kitchen areas
- Sanitary systems and drinking water treatment plants to prevent leaks or overflows
- Electrical services for boilers, hot water generators, swimming pool equipment, kitchen and laundry appliances, fire-fighting systems, sewage and drinking water treatment plants, and more
- Laundry machines and kitchen equipment
- Lighting in laundry and kitchen areas, including cold rooms
- Power supply systems, transformers, switch gears, control panels, motors, wiring, lighting, and audio-visual equipment
- Perform systematic checks, change bolts, tighten screws, nuts, and belts to ensure all machines are in good working order.
- Report any electrical equipment malfunctions promptly and take appropriate action.
- Participate in hotel functions and contribute to general building maintenance.
- Respond to fire alarms or emergencies as needed.
- Keep assigned areas and equipment in optimal condition in terms of performance and cleanliness.
- Cooperate with superiors and various tradesmen, coordinating with Engineering operations and the office.
- Accept additional or temporary assignments as instructed by superiors.
Repair and Maintenance Tasks:
- Repair wooden tables and partitions by changing damaged wood, gluing together wooden partitions, scraping and polishing wood, fixing table legs, and re-varnishing wood.
- Repair doors and windows by polishing with a planning machine, adjusting and planing pommels, and applying lubricants to hinges.
- Perform plumbing works such as changing tap garnishes, making garnishes with joints if spare parts are unavailable, changing fittings in showers or sinks, repairing toilet handles, and replacing/repairing parts in toilet tanks.
- Conduct masonry works including rough-casting cracks on walls, re-fixing tiles, and placing bricks for pathways.
- Carry out painting tasks, including retouching paint where necessary, mixing paints for desired colors, and varnishing wooden tables to remove stains.
- Perform cleaning duties, including roof cleaning as per established plans and cleaning drains upon request of Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Assistant Manager.
Candidate profile:
Qualification:
• Middle or Secondary Education + Additional training or certificates in the relevant field is a plus.
Experience:
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in hotel industry.
• Proven experience working in a top luxury resorts is a plus.
Technical skills:
• Solid experience with plumbing and electrical systems.
• Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.
• Extremely organized with good communication skills.
• Detail-orientated with an aptitude for problem-solving.
