Assistant Spa Director

BASIC PURPOSE: The Assistant Spa Director is responsible for managing the Spa and Fitness operations including staffing, standards training, guest service delivery, retail promotions and events, problem resolution, financial reporting, and maintaining supplies and equipment. They are knowledgeable of market trends and can collaborate with others to put together strong business plan to generate revenue.

ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS:

  • Knowledge of Spa Management and have creativity and strong marketing, communication and holistic skills. Oversees ongoing development and positioning of Spa offerings in terms of overall concept definition, philosophy, treatment & menu offerings.
  • Reviews and refreshes Spa product offering in line with current guest and industry global trends – anticipates and sets future trends.
  • Supervise all the operating responsibilities, coordinating efforts and establishing priorities.
  • Ensure all relevant Four Seasons standards, policies and procedures are developed, implemented and actioned.
  • Responsible for the over-all operation and performance of the spa and fitness for the Resort - including salon and retail, fitness center, meeting financial objectives for the spa (spa revenue projections as it relates to retail and service and ensuring that expenses are maintained within budget provided).
  • Primary functions include, but are not limited to: (1) providing outstanding guest service and satisfaction, (2) revenue generation and enhancement, (3) staff management and training.
  • Prepare monthly financial and statistical reports for management incorporating proposals and recommendations regarding Spa/Fitness.
  • Responsible for development of Spa annual budget and forecast. Responsible for inventory, revenue and margin management related to spa service, retail, spa facilities.
  • Develop and submit an annual budget and business plan for the Spa/Fitness. Responsible for the achievement and regular review of the business plan and budget.
  • Work closely with Planning Committee in the preparation of Spa/Fitness marketing plans for the year.
  • To provide leadership, direction and support to the employees of the Spa/Fitness and to develop a highly motivated team who can deliver high standards of service in all areas.
  • Works collaboratively and professionally with all team members of the resort.
  • Build an open and trustful environment where everyone's opinion is share and value. Communicate clearly and openly the correct information at the right moment.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Education:

  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree (preferably) or similar level of experience in a related field or with equivalent experience.


Experience:

  • At least 2+ years of Spa Management experience, preferably in a Luxury Hotel/Resort setting.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong business acumen – strategic and analytical minded to drive business/revenue.
  • Must have hands-on knowledge of retail/spa systems as well as best practices and operations.
  • Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must be flexible with schedule – Able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, overtime, and evening/overnights if needed.
