What's the job?

Leads all work of Housekeeping Team Members in assigned areas. Keeps areas in best condition by directing work and suggesting the necessary replacement of equipment and training of housekeeping Team Members

Your day-to-day

  • Prepare the morning reports showing occupied, vacant, check outs and out of order rooms for the Housekeeping Department as required. 
  • Ensure Room Attendants / Public Area Cleaners arrive at work on time and supervise the filling in of their time sheets. 
  • Check supplies, equipment and housekeeping trolleys ensuring that at all times they are fully stocked and neatly presented for use in a guest area. 
  • Ensure that any floral arrangements, fruit platters, VIP amenities etc in guest rooms or corridors are watered, serviced daily and replaced as required. 
  • Check constantly for room status discrepancies and reports to Housekeeping Department and Front Office immediately. 
  • Receive any special orders for the day and notes room numbers or changes which must be put in order as soon as possible. 
  • Inspect all rooms allocated to him/her in one day and directs and corrects deficiencies as required. Notes the time each room is checked  
  • Is responsible for the cleanliness of all public areas on his/her floors, including storerooms, corridors, walls, ceilings, guest seating areas, ashtrays, elevator doors, guest room doors and back landings. 
  • Log any maintenance requests to ensure appropriate repairs are being completed. 
  • Complete maintenance requests for any defects discovered in any guest room or public area and follows up on their repair. If the job has not been completed within 24 hours – contact the Maintenance Department for completion. 
  • Ensure daily “Vacant Ready” room inspections are carried out and reports any irregularities to the Housekeeping Manger. 
  • Ensure all Team Members are fully conversant with the Property’s Fire and Emergency Procedures and all Fire Wardens attend any training as required. 


What we need from you

  • Communication skills - guests will need to come to you with concerns as well as compliments, so you’ll be easy to talk to 
  • Your problem-solving skills will turn issues into opportunities so every guest leaves with great memories 
  • Fluency in the local language - extra language skills would be great, but not essential 
  • Literate and tech-savvy - you’ll need a good grasp of reading, writing, basic maths and computers 
  • Flexibility - night, weekend and holiday shifts are all part of the job 
  • You’ll have a high school diploma or qualification. A college or university degree would be a bonus, but not essential 
  • Experience - ideally you’ll have spent at least one year in a front desk or guest service position 
  • Strength - sometimes you’ll need to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg). This can involve bending and kneeling
