Scope of Position:

The Cost Controller is responsible for the day-to-day processing of all invoices by ensuring that necessary backup and approvals are obtained in accordance to the hotel accounting and financial controls, and within the policies and procedures of Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, as well as the company's business plan. Additionally, the Cost Controller is responsible to study, analyze and report on all variances relating to costs and inventory management within the hotel administration. Moreover, the Cost Controller must properly have knowledge of the Greek taxation, with a particular focus on tax obligations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Compares purchase orders to invoices and distributes to proper Department Head for approval.
  • Audits invoices for discrepancies and make relevant corrections when necessary.
  • Attaches invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents.
  • Processes approved invoices in the ERP and balances the open invoices.
  • Reconciles all statements, requests missing invoices, and adjusts as necessary.
  • Maintains all necessary files and registers for accounts payable.
  • Works closely with Purchasing Department to monitor  all pending and partial deliveries.
  • Prepares and verifies reports i.e officer checks, F&B entertainment checks, F&B costs and analysis, etc.
  • Defines minimum and maximum stock levels, par stock management systems, in cooperation with Purchasing team.
  • Accounts for inventory movements with proper documentation.
  • Prepares all appropriate period closing reports and entries.
  • Follows all applicable laws relating to general accounting practices and tax regulations.
  • Complies fully with the set financial reporting deadlines and guidelines, as outlined in P&P and by the Director of Finance
  • Maintains high confidentiality.
  • Reports any suspicious issue that falls into his control, to the Director of Finance. 
  • Ensures that all potential and real hazards are reported appropriately & immediately.
  • Supports a safe hotel by applying hotel regulations and adhering to existing laws and regulations.
  • Attends meetings and training required by the Director of Finance
  • Assists team colleagues when required.
  • Ensures guest satisfaction by performing duties such as attending to their requests and inquiries courteously and promptly.


Qualifications / Experience:

  • Degree in Accounting/ finance/ economics/ business administration.
  • 3-4 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with SAP software.
  • Fluency in English and Greek.
  • Experienced in MS office – especially Excel.
  • Strong sense of time management
  • Highly responsible and reliable with exceptional communication and organization skills
  • EU Passport required
