PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE / SCOPE

The role of the Vice President, Marketing, China is to to develop and drive marketing strategies for the Shangri-La Hotels in China region.This role is also the guardian of the Shangri-La brand, ensuring any creativity be it print or digital adheres to an agreed brand look and feel but also reflecting the distinctive personality of Shangri-La. You will be responsible for the implementation of global marketing strategies in the region, and the creation of innovative marketing strategies locally that will build the brand leading to increased awareness, relevance and respect among customers. You will have international vision and deep understanding of local markets, with the ability to translate analytics into action, using creative, innovative and trackable tactics that enhance, develop and generate a commercial return on investment. You will understand the importance of aligning the organization internally around agreed brand and marketing objectives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define, create and implement the marketing strategies for Shangri-La properties in China. Oversee the development and implementation of annual marketing plans for assigned geographic markets, crafting compelling marketing campaigns that address business objectives and brand positioning.
  • Maintain and develop diverse, complex, and regionally focused marketing content for use across all hotels.
  • Provide insights into the data and analytics for marketing of products and services to drive decision marketing for improved revenue.
  • Oversee the development of hotels’ short and long term strategic marketing plans and budgets in the region
  • Provide coaching and training to hotel teams on regional marketing content/ trends/ knowledge
  • Take responsibility for the commercial performance of the brand website in respect of the region and other distribution channels. Create and drive a marketing strategy that is demand generating, revenue focused and innovative.
  • Partnership Marketing: develop and manage relationships with all relevant “on brand” partners that are beneficial to the region
  • Innovation: take an innovative approach across all marketing activities and ensure that new digital initiatives are understood and fully resourced
  • Ensure strict compliance across all properties of all brand executions with global guidelines, manage and monitor usage of brand with all channel partner.
  • Explore potential opportunities in market intelligence structure for mid / long term development to support business growth regionally.
  • REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor in Business / Strategy / Communications (MBA an advantage)
  • 15+ years marketing leadership experience in multinational companies in China with a senior marketing management role from within the luxury hospitality, luxury retail, FMCG, Tech or Real estate industry.
  • Proven results in leading an international company to achieve market penetration and direct sales results. Proven track record in e-commerce, SEO, PPC, Email marketing, Google Analytics and social media platforms, with experience of implementing end-to-end campaigns with demonstrable ROI
  • Deep understanding of traditional and innovative marketing strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills combined with the confidence that comes with functional experience
  • Superior interpersonal skills reflecting leadership ability; the personality to inspire confidence and build teams and the flexibility to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong dedication to purpose and a commitment to the highest standards of performance within time and budget constraints.
  • Organisational skills with ability to deliver a high volume of quality work under pressure and to tight deadlines
