General Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance team. This role is ideal for a technically capable individual who takes pride in their work and has a strong eye for detail.

The successful candidate will support the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of our properties, ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, facilities, and back-of-house spaces are maintained to the highest standards.

The General Maintenance Technician will play an important role in ensuring that our guests enjoy a seamless and exceptional experience through proactive maintenance, timely repairs, and quality workmanship.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repair works across the property, including guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, spa facilities, and back-of-house areas.
• Respond efficiently to maintenance requests and ensure issues are resolved with minimal impact on guests and operations.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks to help maintain the condition, safety, and reliability of hotel facilities and equipment.
• Carry out repairs and basic troubleshooting across various areas including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling, fixtures, fittings, and general building maintenance.
• Identify potential issues and report maintenance requirements before they affect the guest experience.
• Support room inspections and maintenance checks, ensuring facilities and finishes are maintained to luxury standards.
• Assist with installations, improvements, refurbishments, and property projects as required.
• Work closely with the Maintenance team and other departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Maintain accurate records of completed works and communicate any outstanding issues to the Maintenance team.
• Ensure all tools, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, organised, and safe.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and ensure all work is completed professionally and responsibly.
• Maintain a discreet and professional approach when working in guest-facing areas.
• Support emergency maintenance requirements when needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience in a general maintenance, facilities, or similar technical role.
• Experience within a hotel, luxury property, residential, or commercial environment is considered an advantage.
• Good practical knowledge of general maintenance tasks, with the ability to work across multiple disciplines.
• Ability to carry out basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and building repair works.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering quality workmanship.
• Good problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative member of the Engineering team.
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required.
• Relevant technical qualifications or certifications are considered an advantage.

Other Requirements

• Physically able to perform tasks involving lifting, climbing ladders or scaffoldings, and accessing confined spaces.

• Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours interventions where required.
