Paid J-1 Internship/Trainee Program – Culinary Arts (Duck, North Carolina, USA)

POSITION OVERVIEW – CULINARY ARTS
Hands-on experience in kitchen operations in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment. Training is integrated into daily operations and include rotation through Culinary Arts.
CULINARY TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with daily food preparation and mise en place
• Prepare and plate menu items according to company standards
• Maintain proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
• Follow recipes, portion control guidelines, and presentation standards
• Support efficient service during high-volume periods
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation
• Work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen team members
Participants will learn about southeastern cuisine and develop knife skills, timing coordination, kitchen workflow management, and consistency under pressure.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & EXPECTATIONS
• Full-time schedule: approximately 32–40 hours/week
• Shifts typically 7–9 hours
• Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required
• Fast-paced, high-volume seasonal environment
Participants are expected to arrive on time, maintain a professional attitude, follow safety/sanitation/workplace policies, communicate professionally, respect cultural differences, show initiative, and complete the full 3- or 6-month commitment.

ELIGIBILITY
This program is only open to candidates who are citizens or legal residents of a European Union country. Non-EU applications cannot be considered.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The J-1 Visa Internship & Trainee Program allows international hospitality and culinary talent to gain professional experience in the United States while improving English and experiencing American culture. The program is full-time and follows a structured training plan approved by a U.S. Department of State–designated J-1 Visa Sponsor.
PROGRAM OPTIONS
• J-1 Internship (3-month or 6-month contract): for current students or recent graduates (within 12 months) in hospitality, tourism, or culinary programs
• J-1 Trainee (6-month contract): for young professionals with a degree + 1 year of experience, OR 5 years of experience in hospitality/culinary
