Your Purpose

The Public Area Attendant primary responsibility is to ensure the overall cleanliness of all assigned Crew and Officer's cabins, Crew and Guest public areas, is performed and maintained according to standards implemented by the company.In order to consistently exceed Guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Your Impact

* Attend daily briefings conducted by the Assistant Housekeeper / Housekeeper and regularly communicate with the Assistant Housekeeper regarding Housekeeping challenges, projects and matters.
* Follow up the cleaning schedules put in place by the housekeeping management.
* Carry out any additional duties as instructed by the Assistant Housekeeper/ Housekeeper.
* Responsible for garbage disposal before the shift ends and ensures that all garbage is separated in accordance with Public Health regulations in the Recycling Centre.
* Complete the relevant logs for lint and garbage separation area.
* Report any maintenance issues to the Assistant Housekeeper/ Housekeeper.
* Follow the Timetable as instructed by the Supervisor.
* Assist with embarkation / debarkation duties as requested by the supervisor.
* Maintain clean and sanitize all assigned areas.
* Shampoo carpets/upholstery when necessary, following the cleaning rotation for this task.
* Maintain a strong sense of urgency at all times while on duty and offer assistance to other team members around if and when needed.
* Assist in achieving the budgets by minimizing waste and breakage, maintaining proper handling procedures.
* Ensure that all working hours are recorded accurately and truthfully on his timesheet for each time period worked.

Your Journey So Far

* High School diploma or similar preferred.
* One year in same position or similar. Cruise ship experience preferred.
* For safety and others on board, certain physical abilities will be maintained.
* Must be able to climb, bend, perform repetitive motion and eventually heavy lifting.
* Must maintain physical fitness to perform tasks associated with performed role.
* Fluent in written and spoken English. Any additional European languages is considered an advantage (Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French).

* Passport, visas, certificates as specified by the company and as required for exit from the port of origin and entry into the destination cruising area.

MSC Cruises has grown exponentially since 2003. In such a short time, we have built a fleet of 22 modern and most environmentally advanced ships!

With our constant expansion, our fleet will grow in capacity with the arrival of seven new ships in three different classes by 2027.
One of our latest ships – MSC World Europa – was delivered in 2022, inaugurating the World Class. It is our largest cruise ship to date, with a capacity of over 6,700 passengers, served by more than 2,000 crew members.

In 2023 we inaugurated the MSC Euribia equipped with the best and latest environmental technology and bestowed with a highly-innovative design.

In 2023 MSC Cruises entered the Luxury segment by launching its first of four Explora Journeys ships.

Recruitment Prospects
With three new mega-ships and four Luxury ships to be built and delivered between 2023 and 2027, the biggest and most important challenge for MSC Cruises is to find, recruit and train a high number of new crew members needed to provide the service, fun and safety that have become hallmarks of MSC Cruises.

This massive project is already well under way. The Human Resources Team is not only working to recruit the best talents but is also visiting our manning agencies and hiring partners around the world to ensure that the right people and facilities are in place to prepare this ‘army’ of new crew members for their life at sea.
