Your Purpose
As a Specialty Restaurant Sommelier, you will be at the forefront of delivering exceptional dining experiences that combine fine wine with world-class cuisine. You will curate and recommend a selection of wines to enhance the flavors of our guests' meals, ensuring every bottle tells a story. You will collaborate with chefs and service teams to create unforgettable moments, fostering a welcoming and luxurious atmosphere that elevates our guest's culinary journey. Your Impact
You will play a pivotal role in transforming every meal into a sensory experience, guiding guests through wine selections that perfectly complement their dishes. As a wine expert, your role extends beyond mere recommendations by educating and inspiring guests, you will deepen their appreciation for wine and its pairing with cuisine. Through your expertise, you will help drive the profitability of the restaurant by suggesting premium wines and upselling options that elevate the guest experience. Additionally, you will lead by example, training and guiding junior sommeliers and waitstaff to maintain a high level of service and wine knowledge.
Ultimately, your personalized touch will foster long-lasting relationships with guests, encouraging repeat visits and a memorable, elevated dining experience each time.
Your Journey So Far
Relevant Qualifications: You hold certifications from recognized institutions (e.g., WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, or similar) that demonstrate your expertise and commitment to the craft of wine service.
Proven Experience: You have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sommelier, preferably in an upscale restaurant or onboard a luxury cruise ship, where you honed your skills in wine pairings, service, and guest interaction.
Guest-Centric Focus: You have demonstrated your ability to create memorable experiences for guests, providing excellent customer service and personalized wine recommendations.
Team Player: You understand the importance of collaboration and have worked closely with chefs, management, and service teams to create cohesive dining experiences.
Multilingual Abilities (Preferred): Proficiency in at least one additional language, such as Italian, Spanish, or French, is an asset to communicate with our diverse guests.
Your Essentials
Fluent in English: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact confidently with guests and colleagues.
Wine Expertise: Extensive knowledge of international wines, regions, varietals, and proper wine storage and service techniques.
Hospitality Skills: Proven experience in the hospitality industry with a clear passion for delivering superior customer service in a fine-dining environment.
Professional Attitude: You possess a polished, well-groomed appearance and professional demeanor, which reflects the high standards of the luxury cruise line.
Adaptability: Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and remain calm and composed under pressure while providing exceptional service.
Team-Oriented: You collaborate effectively with the restaurant and service teams to create a smooth and enjoyable dining experience for every guest.
