Role Title: Kitchen Hand

Location: Niseko, Japan
Reporting to: Executive Chef / Sous Chef
Responsible for: Kitchen cleanliness, basic food preparation support, and organisation of kitchen areas

Seasons Collection is an ultra-luxury hospitality concept centred on private residences, delivering the service of the world’s finest hotels within the privacy of a home.

Role Purpose

The Kitchen Hand is responsible for supporting the culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment.

Working under the guidance of the Executive Chef, Sous Chef and the Baker, this role ensures that all kitchen areas, equipment, and preparation spaces are maintained to the highest standards, enabling the culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

The role requires discipline, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

1. Kitchen Cleaning & Hygiene

  • Maintain cleanliness across all kitchen areas, including preparation spaces, cooking stations, and storage areas
  • Wash and sanitise dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment to the highest hygiene standards
  • Ensure all surfaces are cleaned and sanitised regularly throughout the day
  • Support deep cleaning tasks as required
  • Ensure all waste is managed and disposed of correctly

2. Food Preparation Support

  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks as directed
  • Prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning
  • Support mise en place preparation in line with kitchen requirements
  • Ensure all ingredients are handled and stored correctly

3. Kitchen Organisation & Readiness

  • Maintain organisation of kitchen equipment, tools, and storage areas
  • Ensure all items are stored correctly and are easily accessible
  • Assist in receiving, checking, and storing deliveries
  • Support stock rotation and ensure proper labelling of ingredients
  • Ensure the kitchen remains organised and ready for service at all times

4. Support During Service

  • Support the kitchen team during service by maintaining cleanliness and readiness of work areas
  • Assist with quick turnaround of utensils and equipment during peak periods
  • Respond promptly to requests from chefs to support smooth service flow
  • Maintain a calm and efficient approach during busy service periods

5. Compliance, Safety & Standards

  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations
  • Maintain safe working practices at all times
  • Use kitchen equipment safely and correctly
  • Follow all operational procedures and kitchen standards

6. Cultural Awareness, Discretion, Presentation & Professional Conduct

  • Demonstrate respect for local culture, customs, and community standards
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance at all times, in line with Seasons Collection standards
  • Carry yourself as a representative of Seasons Collection in all interactions
  • Maintain a respectful and discreet presence within the residences
  • Demonstrate discipline, reliability, and professionalism in all tasks
  • Uphold the highest levels of confidentiality
  • Represent Seasons Collection with integrity and professionalism at all times

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • Experience in kitchens, hospitality, or similar environments preferred
  • Basic understanding of food preparation and kitchen operations advantageous
  • Experience in high-end or fast-paced kitchen environments beneficial
  • Experience in seasonal or high-intensity operations preferred

Visa Eligibility

This role is structured as a seasonal position and is aligned with Japan’s Working Holiday Visa (WHV) framework.

Applicants must be eligible to obtain a Japan Working Holiday Visa. This visa is available to passport holders from eligible partner countries (including the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Denmark and others), typically aged 18–30 and is valid for up to 12 months. The visa can only be issued once, and applicants must apply from their home country prior to travel.

Candidates who already hold valid working rights in Japan are also encouraged to apply.
