Castle Grove is one of the few remaining private estates in the North West of Ireland. Pass through the gates into a different world, an oasis of privacy and tranquility rarely found today.
The main house was built in 1695 by the Grove family after the original was burned during the siege of 1690. A continual icon in history, Castle Grove hosted the introduction of Daniel O'Connell that led to him being elected MP and also had a big influence in the life of General Richard Montgomery, a famous soldier in the 1774 American War of Independence.
In 1989, Castle Grove became home to the Sweeney family who proudly transformed it into a luxury four star hotel, while preserving the character and beauty of the original house and expansive grounds, overlooking Lough Swilly.
Castle Grove is a very popular venue for weddings, anniversaries and special occasions due to its privacy, grace and welcoming charm. In addition, this Georgian house is ideally placed between Letterkenny and Rathmullan and within driving distance of 20 golf courses.
