Job Description

Responsibilities and duties for this position shall include, but not limited to the following areas and activities. At management discretion, direction may be given for tasks outside the scope of work described.

• Follow Occupational Safety & Health regulations, hotel policies and safe working practices at all times.
• Install, inspect, maintain and repair refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
• Monitor the operation and performance of:
• Chillers and chilled water pumps.
• Split air conditioning units.
• Cold rooms and refrigerated storage areas.
• Air conditioning systems in guest rooms.
• Air conditioning systems in public areas, golf facilities, staff and residential quarters.
• Cooling equipment for the fitness centre cold pool.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance according to the maintenance schedule.
• Diagnose equipment faults and perform timely repairs to minimise downtime.
• Prepare and update technical records for each piece of equipment.
• Complete intervention and maintenance reports after every repair or service.
• Record daily operating temperatures of chillers and chilled water systems as instructed.
• Monitor and record cold room temperatures according to established procedures.
• Report equipment defects, abnormal readings and maintenance requirements to the Head of Section.
• Inform the Head of Section of spare parts, tools and materials required.
• Ensure work areas, workshops and equipment are maintained in a clean and organised condition.
• Support the Electrical team when required and perform basic electrical duties during replacement assignments, where competent and authorised.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns.
• Participate in the hotel's preventive maintenance programme.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Qualification:

• National Certificate, Diploma or Trade Certificate in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning or Mechanical Engineering.
• Valid refrigeration handling certification is an advantage.
• Additional technical certifications are considered an asset. 

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in refrigeration and air conditioning maintenance.
• Previous experience in the hospitality industry is an advantage.
• Experience with commercial chillers, split units and cold rooms is preferred.

Technical skills:

• Good knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and refrigeration faults.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures.
• Ability to read technical manuals and basic electrical diagrams.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Computer literacy for maintenance reporting is an advantage.
