Kitchen & Laundry Repair Technician

Job Brief

We are on the lookout for an experienced and knowledgeable Kitchen & Laundry Repair Technician to join our team. In this position, you will respond to calls to attend to repairs on Kitchen and Laundry equipment or appliances.



The Kitchen & Laundry Repair Technician’s responsibilities include having a deep understanding of all major appliances and fixing problems quickly. In addition, he should be familiar with diagnostic techniques for pinpointing what could be causing an issue and have excellent problem-solving skills to fix all issues promptly.

Ultimately, he will work directly with kitchen/Laundry HODs

The Kitchen & Laundry Repair Technician typically works alone but communicates directly with the Kitchen and Laundry HODs and equipment operators to diagnose and fix issues with appliances. He reports to them on the status of the repairs until completion. He then monitors the repaired items until the satisfaction of the HOD(s) or operator(s).

In addition, he helps install and adjust new appliances, run tests on machines, perform maintenance on the equipment and report if he finds anything wrong with an appliance.

He reports directly to the Maintenance Manager who ensures he maintains a high level of service and can, eventually, assign him other tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Identify the cause of the problems with the faulty appliances.

· Disassemble and reassemble appliances.

· Diagnose and replace faulty parts.

· Explain to the Kitchen/Laundry HODs or operators how to use appliances properly.

· Install large appliances, such as washers, ovens and dishwashers.

· Perform maintenance work on appliances.

· Provide rough estimates to the Maintenance Manager on costs required to repair damaged or malfunctioning appliances.

· Keep records of accomplishment of repairs status on each appliance.

· Identify parts references for replacement and follow up on the ordering process.

· Maintain an accurate record of all items/parts used to repair, replace, or maintain appliances.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

· 5 years of proven work experience as a Kitchen & Laundry Repair Technician or similar role.

· Proven experience repairing, installing and maintaining large commercial kitchen and Laundry appliances.

· The ability to read and interpret schematic and technical manuals.

· The ability to use various hand tools and electronic testers.

· The ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders/step ladders and the like.

· The ability to lift heavy objects up to 35 kg.

· Excellent problem-solving skills.

· Effective communication skills and ability to explain problems simply and clearly.

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Diploma in electro-mechanic, electro-technic or any relevant formation in kitchen and or Laundry equipment repair is preferred.
