The Four Seasons Hotel Chicago is looking for a host/hostess for Adorn Bar & Restaurant who shares a passion for excellence and who infuses enthusiasm into everything they do.   

We are looking for an energetic, experienced leader with excellent interpersonal skills, ability to multitask, have a passion for service and hospitality.  Applicants will be a willing team player, comfortable with computer systems and willing to accept assignments on as need basis, in order to promote team work. Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities   

  • Greet guests and ensure a seamless flow through the restaurant and to arranged dining tables.  

  • Speaking clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and responding well to questions.  

  • Taking part in pre-service duties and applicable closing duties.  

  • Participating in service/culinary education sessions.  

  • Seat guests promptly at a table pre-set for the number in the party and according to guest preference.   

  • Set up host/hostess stand, review guest reservation book, and make recommendations as to the set-up of the room, maintain a station chart and cover count for the restaurant while recognizing the maximum workload capacity of each server in order to meet Four Seasons Service standards.    

  • Answer telephones according to Four Seasons standards and take guest reservations or provide information regarding the restaurant or any other hotel service.   

  • Anticipate the needs of guests, respond accordingly to guest inquiries or problems, and recognize regular guests by name and utilize the guest’s name consistently.   

  • Inspect and maintain daily menus to ensure quality, condition and appearance while developing a complete working knowledge of all menu items and daily specials. Print all menus as well as making the floor plans & shift summary notes.  

  • Maintain constant communication with leadership team, core, concierge and front office teams throughout service, to stay head of changes and adjustments that need to be made.   

  • Develops rapport with guests and take ownership of the guest experience: knowing their names and preferences at a minimum.  

  • Participate in pre-shift meetings for daily updates, to learn new menu offerings and for continuous knowledge.   

  • Display, at all times, a friendly, courteous and professional manner in all dealings with guests, patrons and other employees.   

  • Execute and facilitate service in cooperation with colleagues and leadership, both FOH & BOH.    

  • Liaise with colleagues to ensure communication at all times about wants and needs of guests.   

  • Reports all incidents or unusual situations to the supervisor as quickly as possible;   

  • Perform tasks and projects as delegated by the leadership team.   

  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and alcohol consumption.  



Preferred Qualifications and Skills   

  • Confident and takes pride in personal style and appearance.  

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Host or in a stand-alone fine dining setting.  

  • Strong knowledge and interest in food and beverage and a sincere interest in the hospitality industry.  

  • Requires good communication skills: verbal, non-verbal and written.   

  • Must be minimum age to serve alcohol.   

  • High school or equivalent education required.   

  • Must be punctual and practice good attendance.   

  • Equal or equivalent to ServeSafe Certification.   

  • TIPs Certification.   

  • ServeSafe allergen training.    

  • Possess basic math skills and have the ability to operate a cash register and POS system   

  • Must be patient, pleasant, conscientious, professional, and have knowledge of product, preparation and alcoholic beverage selections.    

  • Responsive to constructive feedback from all leadership.
