About the job
- The Sales Director is a Department Head level role and reports directly to the Director of Marketing.
- The role focuses on revenue growth, sales goal achievement, and effective communication within the hotel.
- Requires a four-year college/university degree or equivalent.
- Prior experience as a Director of Sales or Sales Manager in the hotel or resort industry.
- Strong communicator who is fluent in both Spanish and English (written and spoken)
- Strong personal and business references.
- Competence in computer applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software.
- Active participation in identifying qualified Sales and Marketing candidates for hiring
General
- Discover, seek out, and promote group and individual business in alignment with the goals outlined in the Marketing Plan.
- Oversee and inspire sales efforts and the sales team.
- Guarantee the fulfillment of quotas for all sales team members.
- Ensure that sales efforts, individual accounts, and group reservations are aligned and synchronized with transient demand to optimize revenue per available room.
- Optimize sales across all revenue streams within the hotel.
- Enforce and back the implementation of all Minimum Operating Standards (MOS) for sales and marketing at the hotel
People
- Recruit, train, and familiarize sales department personnel with hotel operations.
- Mentor and guide sales staff in their position responsibilities and performance techniques.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to sales department personnel.
- Oversee all supervisory functions for effective personnel management.
- Foster a cooperative and productive working environment, encouraging employee morale and growth.
- Capacity to assume responsibility for the Marketing Department during the Director of Marketing's absence.
Product
- Contribute to the development of the annual marketing plan.
- Ensure project execution in line with the hotel marketing plan, emphasizing sales and profitability.
- Review market analysis to determine client needs, occupancy potential, and desired rates.
- Supervise the implementation of sales and marketing procedures, maintaining compliance with company Minimum Operating Standards (MOS).
- Utilize provided marketing tools effectively.
- Analyze sales statistics in relation to booked versus consumed business.
Profit
- Proficiency in guiding the hotel's sales initiatives to attain budgeted objectives.
- Capability to track and recognize both present and future business trends, ensuring profitable sales during periods of high and low demand.
- Skill in negotiating and confirming sales transactions.
- Ability to promote effective communication and collaborate productively with all Worldwide Sales Offices.
- Competency in negotiating to achieve the highest possible revenue and profit while meeting client needs.
- Proficiency in assuming leadership and direction for the hotel's group and individual room sales endeavors.
- Capacity to proactively and innovatively develop solutions for sales and marketing.
- Skill in improving the hotel's standing in the community and staying informed about industry competition, emerging trends, and sales methodologies to maximize sales and profitability.
