Job Responsibilities
  • Implements plans to achieve monthly expenses (HLP & R&M) set by the Deputy Chief Engineer/Chief Engineer.
  • Implements capex, renovation and improvement plans as allocated by the Deputy Chief Engineer/Chief Engineer.
  • Prepares the BOQ/ tender documents and comparative statements for various engineering jobs in consultation with the Deputy Chief Engineer.
  • Recommends cost effective solutions for resolution of perenial issues. 
  • Recommends new energy efficient products for implementation in consultation with the Deputy Chief Engineer. Monitors the performance of existing equipments and escalate any deviations to the Deputy Chief Engineer                                                                                                              
  • Manages and allocates resources to optimize cost in line with targets and conduct periodic reviews.                                                                                                                         
  • Maintains good relationship with the vendors and actively involves them in new product development and quality assurance.                                                                                                                                                                  
  • Sources best products constantly and aim to improve quality by developing purchase specifications for products.
  • Conducts regular departmental staff meetings to ensure an effective two-way communication process is followed.
  • Co-ordinates with the concerned department HOD to periodically review the equipment condition to check its efficiency and if a replacement is required.
  • Walks through all areas regularly to note and immediately rectify operational flaws if any. 
  • Implements the process of Preventive Maintenance for guest rooms, engineering equipments and systems.
  • Assists the Deputy Chief Engineer in maintaining the required documentation for routine inspection of equipments and legal compliances.
  • Assists the Deputy Chief Engineer in preparing  monthly reports - Earth Check, Legatrix, KPI, Cess report, 30 days report, Utility report, Sustainabilty report.
  • Ensures crisis management teams are aware of the protocol to be followed while responding to emergencies.
  • Assists the Projects Team in completion of planned projects of the hotel.
  • Reviews guest feedback on TrustYou (Guest Email Feedback System) and on Social Media Platforms and ensures appropriate corrective action is taken.
  • Attends to breakdowns of equipments and incorporates guest / staff requirements during product upgradation/ renovation.
  • Addresses the customer complaint stratification periodically to identify areas of improvement and implement changes in product or processes. 
  • Follows the set department and sub-department goals which is in line with the hotel and department strategies. Communicate goals, conduct Q-Chats (quarterly performance reviews), analyse performance and provide relevant input for training programs.
  • Identifies the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills in consultation with the Deputy Chief Engineer.
  • Escalates misconduct by the team member to the HOD and participates in the disciplinary procedure. Must  adhere to the standards of Tata Code of Conduct and values of IHCL.
  • Conducts training as per the training calendar. Participate in certification of team members in key skills. Ensures self and team members attend appropriate core training classes.
  • Maintain a culture of  recognition by actively participating in the STARS (Special Thanks and Recognition System) Program.
  • Demonstrate a culture of 'Trust, Awareness and Joy' by conducting departmental meetings, reviewing V-Connect feedback, drawing and implementing suitable action plans.
  • Prepares the department duty roster and shares it with the Deputy Chief Engineer.
  • Ensures full compliance to Safety/Hygiene and TPAM (Taj Positive Assurance Model) and takes corrective measures 
  • Ensures compliance to mandatory license (Fire, Local pollution Control board, Electrical,Elevator)
  • Follows the internal audit checklists as per the IHCL Safety Guidelines
  • Adheres to all departmental legal compliances
  • Identifies risks and develops HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) for Engineering activities.
  • Adheres to roles and responsibilities pertaining to safety as defined by the hotel from time to time as per the PCM (Progressive Consequence Management) SOP and IMBC (Incident Management and Business Continuity).
