TUI fly Netherlands delivers in-house flying p capacity to the TUI Netherlands tour operator markets. The AOC organisation is responsible for meeting all regulatory requirements. The AOC has oversight for all consolidated operational and support activity in the airline and works collaboratively with partners across the TUI Airline platform functions to meet the requirements of EASA and CAA-NL. The AOC operates aircraft operating market leading flying standards from a highly motivated and culturally engaged workforce of more than 200 pilots. 

 

Leading a team of Nominated Persons, Form 4 holders and technical leaders, the Accountable Manager (AM) is responsible for the safe, secure and compliant operation of one of the TUI airline AOCs. You will define the standards required to meet the requirements of the regulators. 

 

As a member of the CFOO Leadership Team you will work with your partner AMs from other AOCs to harmonise and align manuals, procedures and ways of working across the TUI AOCs, working to influence regulators through progressive engagement and positive relationships. You will maintain open and collaborative relationships with functional leads in the TUI Airline platforms ensuring a cohesive and unified mindset across regulated operational activities in E&M, cabin crew management, manpower planning and rostering, ground operations and airline operations. 

 

You will establish an effective Management System reflecting the unique TUI Airline organisation. You will engage with regulators to develop understanding and confidence in the TUI Airline model, and work closely with partners in the TUI Airline functions to ensure full appreciation of the needs of regulatory systems.

 

The Accountable Manager will set the tone for social dialogue with the TUI fly Netherlands Workers Council and union partners, ensuring productive engagement and proactive management. You will ensure all social dialogue is managed to meet statutory obligations and management engagement planned to deliver TUI Airline strategic initiatives. You will manage relationships with social partners and unions to best effect, through an integrated labour relations agenda. And actively participate in alignment and information sharing across the TUI Airline to contribute to a coherent TUI Airline social agenda.

 

You will be a visible and active advocate for the TUI Airline strategic vision. You will play an active role as a member of the TUI Airline senior leadership team, participating in strategic initiatives and collaborative projects to continuously improve the performance of the whole TUI Airline set-up. 

 

You’ll motivate, develop and lead a community of technical leaders and pilots, serving a complex and flexible flying programme. You’ll preserve the motivation across all teams to deliver an exceptional level of customer service and a holiday flight experience. Your leaders will create supportive social management systems, and effective engagement strategies.

In this role, you’ll report to the Chief Flight Operations Officer.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: 

  • As Accountable Manager you’ll be responsible for: 
  • Alignment of the TUI fly Netherlands AOCs strategic delivery with the overall TUI Airline vision and strategy
  • Cost effective, safe and compliant flying operations on a aircraft Boeing 737 and 787 fleet
  • Leading and motivating a team of technical leaders and regulatory experts, operating in a highly regulated and complex operational environment 
  • Oversight of all regulated airline activities including those delivered by partner TUI Airline platform functions outside the AOC and also those delivered by external partners. Continuous improvement in all regulated and flying operation activities
  • Delivery of a complex flying programme to meet commercial requirements and meeting market competitive financial targets
  • Effective and progressive relationships with CAA-NL, maintaining TUI’s reputation as an innovative, safe and secure operator. Developing new and innovative methods and systems to meet regulatory obligations and advance regulatory thinking
  • Motivation and engagement of more than 800 flying crew and ground staff inspired to deliver great operational performance with total focus on meeting and exceeding customer expectations
  • Leading, planning and implementing an effective labour relations agenda, designed to deliver TUI Airline strategic objectives, and establishing on-going pragmatic dialogue with unions and workers councils across both AOCs
  • Active and visible advocacy for the TUI Airline operating model; developing improvements and innovations in collaboration with partner leaders in platform functions 
  • Ensuring the team understands the importance of leadership development by acting as a role model in making time for, and showing commitment to, your own development as a leader
  • Active collaboration across TUI Airline AOCs in the CFOO function, achieving the optimum balance of  interests across all airlines and platform functions to meet commercial, customer and operational requirements
  • Securing a highly capable and inspirational leadership culture, you and your senior team will infuse the organisation with a readiness and capacity for change to meet continually changing customer and tour operator demands.


 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: 

  • Senior leadership experience in highly regulated operational roles 
  • Ability to operate within a complex organisational context delivering alongside multiple international partners to internal customers with diverse and competing demands 
  • Sufficient credible experience to lead a fast-moving multi-national operation including internal and external partners, within a regulatory environment 
  • Evidence of driving innovation and a progressive mindset across regulated technical teams, motivating senior leaders to drive change in complex multi-national operational businesses
  • Proven financial acumen to prepare and control budgets
  • Experience and confidence developing progressive relationships with unions and social partners
  • A skilled communicator with the proven ability to influence at executive level, government bodies and regulatory specialists  
  • Evident capacity to balance regulated operations and technical procedures with commercial and strategic objectives

This role requires strong business English (written & spoken) and will involve regular travel across Europe. May be required to meet specific regulatory requirements related to the role.
