From using the correct glassware and selecting the right type of ice to choosing the garnish and mixer, you’ll learn how to make and serve the perfect cocktail. Gavin will take you through how to put together the perfect gin and tonic, Aperol spritz and rusty nail.
The history of cocktails
Studying the rich history of the bartending is important if you want to understand the industry as it is today. You’ll delve into the fascinating journey of cocktail-making from the 1800s, pre-prohibition America and the tiki era to modern day mixology.
Essential methods and techniques
Gavin will demonstrate and explain the fundamental bartending techniques of shaking, pouring, muddling, stirring and rolling. He will also cover more advanced techniques including double bottle pour and chase pour. After the course, you’ll have a solid understanding of the core bartending techniques.
Equipment
Get to grips with the essential bartending equipment you’ll use when working at a bar. This includes stirring glasses, shakers, strainers, spoons, citrus squeezers, muddlers and jiggers.
Cocktail recipes
