ZRG Aspen Leadership Group is pleased to partner with Project Angel Food in the search for a Chief Operating Officer.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operating Officer will play a critical leadership role, ensuring operational excellence and leading initiatives across the organization in support of Project Angel Food’s mission. The COO will partner closely with and support the goals of the CEO and be a key member of the leadership team. The COO will have responsibility for the leadership and management of Project Angel Food’s finance, human resources, facilities, and technology functions as well as oversight of Project Angel Food’s kitchen operations which serves more than 1.5 million medically tailored meals each year to more than 7,000 individuals. This is an inaugural leadership role reflecting Project Angel Food’s intention and readiness to scale and optimize its operation with innovation when possible. A deep understanding of operational excellence, a bias for action, and the ability to oversee a logistically complex organization are critical for success in this role as are project management skills, a collaborative and highly communicative approach to problem solving, and a commitment to the wellbeing of the dedicated staff of Project Angel Food.

Project Angel Food nourishes the health and spirit of people facing critical and life-threatening illnesses by preparing and delivering medically tailored meals with love, care, and dignity. Since 1989, Project Angel Food has provided more than 20 million meals to critically ill individuals across Los Angeles County. As a leader in the Food is Medicine movement, the organization tirelessly advocates for the national expansion of medically tailored meals, ensuring that everyone battling illness receives the nutrition they need. Currently, Project Angel Food serves more than 1.5 million medically tailored meals each year to 5,272 individuals. Each year, more than 5,814 volunteers dedicate 47,881 hours to Project Angel Food — equivalent to the efforts of 22 full-time employees — ensuring that no one faces illness alone.

A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required for this role. Project Angel Food will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. If you are excited about this role and feel that you can contribute to Project Angel Food, but your experience does not exactly align with every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé.

The target salary for this position is $210,000. Project Angel Food offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with employer contribution, and generous paid time off.
