POSITION OVERVIEW
The Aman Group is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to be based in Singapore, with some travel required as required by the business. The Senior Legal Counsel will cover development, investment and operations work within the legal context and will support the rest of the legal team. The Senior Legal Counsel will report to the Director of Legal, Development and work primarily with the Development team based in the region.

The Aman Group is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to be based in Singapore, with some travel required as required by the business. The Senior Legal Counsel will cover development, investment and operations work within the legal context and will support the rest of the legal team. The Senior Legal Counsel will report to the Director of Legal, Development and work primarily with the Development team based in the region.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the Development team to provide support for the Group’s operations in Asia, EMEA and beyond, including hotel management and development of new projects.
- Draft, negotiate and review contracts and other legal documents (including hotel management agreements, brand license agreements, technical services agreements and other ancillary documents) as part of the Group’s efforts to expand its hotel and residences portfolio globally.
- Advise on and oversee M&A transactions involving real estate and hospitality assets from a developer/owner perspective, including coordinating due diligence efforts and negotiating transaction documents.
- Work with the Residences team to structure all aspects of the Group’s branded residences activities, including the sale, management, operation and rental of villas, apartments and condos in various jurisdictions.
- Provide legal advice and support to the Development team and advise on legal issues, including coordinating with JV partners, hotel owners and internal stakeholders on operational, compliance and other hotel related matters.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of post-qualification experience (with time spent in an in-house legal role within the hospitality industry a bonus).
- Ability to expeditiously identify and assess issues and provide legally sound recommendations consistent with good business practices and reason.
- Strong drafting, problem-solving and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure while producing a high volume of accurate work.
- Experience in advising clients from a practical and strategic perspective, with the ability to deliver pragmatic legal advice on hospitality-related matters.
- Strong academic record with a law degree from a reputable university.
- Outstanding analytical, writing, communication and client-servicing skills.
- Ability to work independently and to interact effectively with individuals at all levels.
